That’s how I learnt while doing my course, which is good,, but now I do it my way which I prefer. Experience and sharp chisels make perfection. 👍

Very nice video tutorial, I had to change my bathroom lock from a tubular latch to a mortice lock with privacy handles. Let's just say it was a learning experience, especially using a chisel for the first time. I was definitely heavy-handed with it, lol. I will definitely learn from it and follow your example nextime.Many thanks 😊

You made it look easy. How long did it take you to do? I tried using a regular drill bit that was 2mm too narrow and postponed it for another day because it took too long for me.

You forget to mention that it takes a lot longer with two 5 yr olds and a dog barking at every knock of the hammer , LOL......... 4 hours later got the job done . " GREAT VID " mate . Cheers

Shukran - many thanks Salwan. If you want to know how a bathroom should be tiled or to tile it yourself then watch the whole video including the classroom setting out session. The 'setting out' section will tell you what to think of in advance of laying your first tile to start. Once you make the considerations talked about - you will start in the right place - which is vitally important. The 1/4 progressing tile bond is also great for hiding cuts in a small room and folding tiles around corners, which always looks best. If you want to cut skirting boards mitres - then clamp a 2 x 2 block onto the back of the skirting to create a running rail for the Studhawk to cut those deep mitres ( a pencil line will help to saw to ) It is my belief that anyone can learn to do this with the right know how. Great video - small negative is that the sound was too echoey. A bit jealous that you are so quick and accurate with the chiselling - I have to use a router.

Good video. First part the sound is bad and would have been better with a voiceover, but thanks for sharing as it reminded me how to fit these.

Ca you cut the main lock hole with a router?

Thanks, I wasn't too sure about that, I managed to place the locking part into a pre-existing hole of an old door,but made a complete mess of the frame trying to fit the strike plate. Now I know "How to"..... all I have to do is cut out a messed up piece of wood on the frame, somehow plug the gap and try again. If only I had seen this first (****).

He makes it look simple. Make no mistake most people will not get this done they will completely bollock it up. People who do this as a profession have a feel for it. You not going to get it done so easily. He should mention get a very good chisel, because a cheap chisel will never get a good job done.

There are special tools for this. You can have it done in 5mins and very precise.

This guy makes the chiseling look easy, but that's only because he's using cheap, new construction wood. I have a 104 year old, solid hard-wood door, that wood is (literally) hard-as-nails.

You made one fundamental mistake., when marking keyhole - you should have brought markings 1mm back, to allow for depth of plate., in my opinion.

'Trade expert Michael'...really? Can anyone let me know what all the marking out was for on the front face of the door please?
