How to do a Realistic Brick look concrete overlay is an easy and less expensive way to get the look of brick or custom brick...without the weight, mess or cost of using real brick or brick veneer. The benefits are...less cost, easier to apply, 100% coverage to the substrate means no delamination or water intrusion that can cause damage. Classic or custom looks, exact matching of existing and no longer available brick when patching or doing repairs and restoration, and it's concrete so it has 3000 psi when dry and will last as long as concrete. Take a look for yourself...when done right, You can't tell it's not real brick.

What hopper gun were you using. Will it spray a sand and cement render mix?

What material did you use o the red bricks that you said you don't even have to paint it?

Wall mix as the base coat... then our Spray mix with Red integral color. Then you carve through the layer of red to expose the gray underneath and create the grout joints

why didn't you just use tape on the base coat and pull out the pattern after applying the top coat?

Typically when you do a tape down application your top coat is 1/32" to 1/16" thick or very close to it so you can actually pull the tape when the concrete sets. Can you do a tape down or use a stencil to create a brick look...yes you can, and that is a great method. If however you want the look we are teaching in this video, it is too thick for an effective tape down or stencil application. The application we are teaching is1/4" to 5/8" or thicker to show the sides of the brick and is designed to "scrape" the base coat layer to open the pores and make it look like a real grout joint with rough sands. The danger in going too thick of material on a tape down application or stencil, is not being able to pull the tape out or breaking the tape while pulling (been there and it sucks). You then have to grind your grout joints.

@@nofilterbaptist2012 Yes...we seal all of our projects using a variety of sealers depending on the overall final look we are trying to achieve or the amount or protection that will be required. For example, on this video we used integral colors to get the main coloring and went over some of the bricks with secondary colors mixed with our pro Seal. When the entire project is complete, we would then apply 2 coats of our Pro Seal (a water based matte finish sealer) to protect the look but also not add any shine or gloss to maintain a more realistic flat brick look and color.
