Yes it can but you need a different vent trim with a large hole for “navigation screen” rather than a single din hole

One more thing, are the remote controls easier to manage on the newer 2007 steering wheels? Because I have different button layout, with cruise control on the wheel aswell.

Geoff Murray full size single din units should fit up there yes, but if it's a double din, then it has to be mechless.

To connect an amp to a factory stereo, you need to make sure your amplifier has some thing called "High Level Input" or "Speaker Level Input". A lot of people say you can use any amp with a high to low level convertor, but personally I don't like these because they take up space and often create noise because they're one of those product that no-one really makes a high quality version of. As far as fitting stereos in the dash goes, yeah you really need the one with the din hole and brackets or a large opening for a shallow double din stereo. Hope this helps!

Fixed it. Just snipped the 12v constant instead of splicing in

Single Din stereos and selected double dins do fit but you need the correct trim kit and mounting brackets to do it. I dont know where to get them I just install stereos in this location when possible.

I'm planning on doing that in my 2007 with the nav system and Macintosh.

You can use 4 Relays or a 4contact rele, to let the second stereo conetc to the speakers when you turn it on

When you have this fitting kit you can put in any single din stere. Or if you have the kit with the large hole in it to accomodate a screen, with some custom mounting you can fit the following double din stereos (that i have found); parrot asteroid smart, alpine ilx-007E, sony xav-ax100, alpine cde-w265ebt/cde-w296ebt stereo needs modding). The reason these stereos fit is because they are either shallow chassis from having no cd player, or they only have a single din chassis at the top half and nothing in the bottom. hope this helps.

Sean Butler not sure sorry I just take advantage of whatever is in the car when it comes to me. If you've got the pocket with a flap up the top you are definitely going to have to find a fitting kit of some sort :/

The flap pocket is totally wrong dimensions for a stereo so there's no 'nice' way to do it. And it won't come with the brackets for mounting like I used in this video.

tingyang1127 the stereo and climate control probably share a power supply. Leave the stereo plugged in to the main harness bus disconnect the speakers like I did in this video.

They were already in there If the car has the single din/ pocket dash piece in the top location then the brackets that go with it should be there too.

+VENIO yes they were in the top of dash between air vents holding a standard Subaru pocket ( not the type that has a closing flap lid)

I have 2004 subaru legacy and I am using anycar link with my factory radio/cd player and I have managed to wire my sub and mono block with it but the sound quality is just rubbish. I might do the same thing what you did in this video. 😀
