If your installing the lower while the upper is still on the boat, trim it up all the way and gravity will keep it in forward.

i have a sei 116 ratio 1.50. this makes so much noise that the radio has to do louder. the dealer says that this is the case with all sei outdrive. a waste of my purchase and money. I wonder if Sei gives a reatie and a solution. My name . Mulder. from holland.

On a new SEI Alpha 1 drive, the splined gear rod on the lower unit wants to slip out of FWD gear with the least provocation when installing...How do you keep the unit in gear?

Shouldn't you use dielectric grease on the dowel pins that align the lower unit with the upper unit? They serve as the bonding conduit (for electron flow) between the two pieces, and I was taught that regular marine grease acts as an insulator and impedes the two pieces from being electrically bonded (grounded) together.

I wish you guys would make a gasket for the transom assy to the transom of the boat the factory transom seal don't seal no good water runs down the studs and is wicked up by the wood in the transom the T R S. Drives and 3 drives had a robust cork and rubber comp gasket and did not have a leaking problem I removed old wore out transom assy T R. That the transom was rock solid to many transom and stringer jobs on late model boats when u .pull of the smaller alpha. Plates and the earlier. Transom assy theirs no protrusion of the fact seal if you make this gasket you will sell a bunch. Check it out!
