How to Install a Swinging Trailer Tongue

When you add a swing tongue kit like this you have to move your safety chains to the back side of the swing portion. The kits aren't strong enough to handle the force if it comes undone from your tow vehicle. Its not safe for anyone and I have seen a lot of chains installed wrong. Read all of the instructions so its safe!

I think about this every time I am backing my tournament tx17 into the garage. Have to turn the motor just right and back it into a closet in garage with 1” to spare from the garage door lol. Thanks!

You happen to know how much of the metal inserts into the coupler on either side? I have about 4.5” of metal sandwiched between the welded ball mount and the boat’s winch and wasn’t sure if I have enough metal to mount the coupler on either side

2017 JKURR I couldn’t tell you exactly because it was on my brothers boat which I don’t have. I’m sure the dimensions on the swing away are online but there wasn’t much metal that was inserted. Sorry I can’t tell you exactly

Hey VABass! I love your video with your modifications. I’m wondering, when you extended your deck between the front casting deck and the console, how did you measure the space between? Do you have a template I could use for the same boat? Did you use 2x4s underneath that it sits on?

Hockey Lyfe Thank you! When building the frame measure the length of the bottom of the deck. I used 2x4s for the four legs and also for the frame and then 1/2 inch plywood. Once the frame is built measure from the top of your existing deck to make sure you cut the plywood long enough. Idk if that helps. Wish I would have taken a video when I built it. Once the frame is built that sits on the bottom of the boat, you will have a decent amount of plywood still sticking out in front of the console that isn’t supported because the boat is angled outward. I took another piece of 2x4 and actually screwed it to the side of the boat horizontally that the extended plywood sits on. It turned out super sturdy! Hope that helped
