instruction not clear my 60inch smart tv couldn't fit in the dash

Oh damn so many things to do. I have a 2002 Ford Expedition that has the same exact dash. I got a cheap 75 dollar android dash tablet from geek app and wired it in with the included wires that came with it. The only modification I had to do to my car was a lil bit of shaving to the plastic where the stock stereo was installed. End result was a completely flush tablet display that looks like it came stock with the car. Tablet has been installed for 3 years now and its still running really good. So good that I much prefer the features it has and display quality compared to the stock display on my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The tablet even came with a back up cam which has way better quality and night vision compared to most back up cams on more modern cars. But damn you sure got some skill and patience to complete a project like this one. Thumbs up for you man.

Looks pretty good... U can use Plumbers tape to secure the tablet... Its a steel strap with holes in it that comes in a roll and used all the time in car audio

for the old Nexus7 (2012) conect the pogopins for audio and power. A optinal componmand is a Universal steering wheel control interface. and OBD Bluetooth interface.

3:35 is re pinning necessary? I believe if the harness you purchase is made for your car you don't need to re pin. Just join/mate the harness you purchased, to the harness for the amp. Then connect it to the harness under the dash.

I have a much simpler way to do this. 1. buy a tablet case. 2. glue the case to a vertical part of your dashboard. 3. put your tablet in. 4. realize how much if a genius I am. I know it's more primitive and less seemless but it's functional and much simpler than this.

Or get one of those sticky things for the windshield that hold your tablet,connect the tablet to the car charger and an audio jack to the stereo of your car,a lot less work involved.

Should probably disconnect the negative battery terminal just to avoid any possibility of shorting any wires. It is a safe way to work on anything electrical in a car.

oh man, this is way too complicated. I have a casette player in my car, so I used a car audio casette with a 3.5mm jack cable which i attached to the tablet (sound), i bought a usb charger to fit in the cigarette lighter (to keep it charged) and finally, a tablet holder. So: tablet holder + audio casette with 3.5mm cable + usb charger = around 15$

wireless charging creates a bunch of heat, you should have just hard wired it, you could have also put a hidden usb port under the dash to install updates and what not so you don't have to take the tablet out as much

Ok one question, Why did you go to the fuse box for a 12v switchable power when all stock radio wire harnesses have on at the plug? They have a 12v constant that keeps the memory live on the deck and is the main power for the deck, it's the large yellow wire, and a 12v switchable, usually the smaller red one, that turns off your radio on /off when you turn the key.

You can get droid/iOS/Winphone based decks now for around the same as a decent stereo. google "eincar" the thing i likeisthe idea of running a droid deck(which can accept a sim card) with obd2 bluetooth adapter, and the torque pro app. now you're integrated with your vehicle. on a side note, a double DIN can be mounted in 97-2003 f150 very nicely with carefull trimming... 😉

As a certified 12v installer I can say with confidence most of this video will most likely cause a fire if you follow these steps and don’t know EXACTLY what you’re doing.

good video, opinions are like....you already know. anyways I had done something similar with my 98 Z28 camaro. I eliminated the head unit, installed a radio delete plate with a magnet behind it (the magnet is from the new style cell phone holders) installed an Harmon Kardon amp with a logitech audio blue tooth adapter, upgraded infinity speakers and new speaker wires from the amp. works flawlessly. my Samsung S6 edge plus sticks perfectly on the radio delete plate. definitely a better choice over the pioneer app 3 radio that I paid for and installed myself on my Acura mdx. $530 for that head unit. never again!

MightyCarMods did one with an 1st gen iPad and it's like having an piece of Tesla's head unit but too bad you can't play songs from your devices without some sort of an internet connection and a app.

My stero has bluetooth. I feel like you could just find a phablet or tablet mount for the dash. It wouldn't look quite as good but good enough for sure

If you do electrical connections please use some quality butt connectors and adhesive heat shrink! Better to do it right once!

ground the wire from the 12 v socket... some people may not understand this and end up blowing more fuses..

I installed for a friend took me a total of 4 hrs the hardest was getting the GPs configured with the GPS in the car, these setups don't look as nice as the oem on the newer models be very careful there is a lot that can go wrong with this later on.

I probably would have used an expanding foam insulator to create a decent pocket to dock the tablet and some Velcro to secure the tablet.

I envy guys who can do DIY projects like this.....well done!

buy a back cover and attach the amp and charger to it .find a way to attach that back cover firmly to the dash .so you can take out the tablet when you want

Google auto play does not support apps that you need in a car like Torque Pro App, or Forscan. I think they've made some deal with auto companies to blacklist anything that would tell the consumer what codes their car is throwing and what's really wrong with it.

easier way to do this: keep the radio, plug in a bluetooth FM transmitter with USB charging to the car cigarette lighter, and install a mini bluetooth remote control on the steering wheel.

Got full use out of my 2019 Kia Optima's Android Auto's system via phone connection. Now I have full use of Android Auto. Very easy to do.

So when will you use the Bluetooth? Is it for the tablet or phone? Is it possible to switch source? Where to control it?

Not bad. Looks very oem. You can glue it with a black silicone glue which is hella strong and durable. im very pissed off that we cant install in dash tablets on new cars with stock infotainment system ;(

I'm confused regarding the wiring harness.. is the harness a car to ISO conversion and then how do you get the wiring harness to connect to a 3.5mm aux lead for the Bluetooth adapter
