How to Install a Wixey Digital Fence Readout on a table saw

In this video I show you how I installed the Wixey Digital Fence Readout on my Harvey table saw. It's a really easy and straight forward install that could lead to a much more actuate saw. Will I trust this vs using a rule or tape measure for every cut...probably not, but getting closer to my cut will lead to quicker more accurate cuts.

The Wixey is a great unit that I have used for over a decade. I hate the blade calibration method and use a different way. Set the fence anywhere, rip a stable hardwood, and zero the Wixey. Measure the ripped board and back up the fence to negative that measurement. Zero the Wixey again and done. It really is a reliable device that I trust much more than my eyes on the ruler.

I knew you'd have no issues with that setup! The nicest thing about the Wixey gauge is the fact you can recalibrate it at any time by the same method you showed. You can also switch it over to INCREMENTAL mode and re-zero for bump adjustments (I want to add a 1/64th or 0,2mm to that...) without changing the ABSOLUTE mode. press the button to switch between the two modes. A single press of the zero button only affects the incremental mode. You have to push and hold to re-zero the absolute mode, so it's more difficult to screw it up!

Yeah it’s a pretty neat little piece of kit! I’ll enjoy seeing how close I am to being exact for all my cuts now

Nick, I just set up my Harvey 4HP tablesaw a little over a week ago. I have installed the jessem clear cut as well. I agree with you that this thing is awesome! So smooth so quiet. I also have their dust collector which is also an incredible piece of machinery and so quiet. I wonder if you might give us a quick video on your outfeed/work table looks like you’ve got an MFT going on. Anyway, it looks like we have a similar set up and I would be interested to hear a bit more of what you’ve done and what you plan to do

Hey awesome! Yeah it’s a great saw and I’m currently looking to make room for their dust processor too! My outfeed/assembly table is a mft style and has been awesome for holding stuff for jointer and assembly.

@@KeyWoodworks I’m in a little 20 x 20 shop. And I’m looking at having an Assembly table near the front entrance where I bring in my materials. I’m thinking I can break them down with my track saw and then get them over to the tablesaw. Do you like having your assembly table acting as your outfeed table? I’ve got a 20 x 60 heavy top workbench that I was thinking of using as my outfeed so that I can pull it away from the tablesaw when I actually need to use it as a workbench. But it sounds like the assembly outfeed combo is working well for you
