Many thanks for this video. Ordered the kit for $75. Parts delivered via Amazon Prime on a Sunday. Had it installed within 1 hour of delivery. . GMC would have wanted $350 for the Job!

Most places only sell the updated kit. I have no symptoms I'm aware of, but a steady engine dash light. Scanner calls for me to replace this part. Nice to know it's not hard to do. Thanks.

i did exactly this job last week,,smoke tested the system with the truck running, leaked out of the filter,,did it again today, no leaks,,still throwing P0455, customer swears she didn't gas the truck running..Activated just the purge valve, running,,waited 10 secs, have good vacuum at the gas cap,,,a little head scratching now...when I get the truck back I will look at the values of the tank sensor on my scanner, cant report on that now.

What are the symptoms of a bad Evap line? My 2007 Denali smells like gas by gas fill neck ONLY after I drive it for 10+ min. Could it be this evap valve is the culprit?

You need to be able to remove your spare tire. What would happen if you got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere with no phone service? After a lot of frustration I read the Owners Manual section on Flat Tire and found how to remove the spare tire. The spare tire winch has a safety mechanism to prevent the spare from falling off if the cable breaks. You need to tighten the tire winch until you hear 2 clicks (or more) then slowly crank down the spare tire to the ground. If that fails, the manual tells you how to use the vehicle jack to release the safety mechanism. I would sure dread changing a spare tire using that method, but in the past I've had a spare fall off my 1990 GM van and a vehicle behind me hit the spare! Luckily no one was injured and there wasn't any vehicle damage. However, GM needs to come up with a much easier method and simpler design to secure the spare tire on their trucks. It's amazing you were able to replace the Evap Vent Solenoid with your spare tire hanging in the way. Thanks for the video and I hope the spare tire info comes in handy for other GM vehicle owners.

Wow whole different set up on my 2007 Serria. Much easier to get at once lifted up. The vent valve hose filter was located by the trany.

I have a 2007 Tahoe and I am going to replace these because there is a strong vapor of gas from the driver wheel well area and no leaks anywhere. I get no engine lights or codes that come up. First time EVER that it took an extra 3 or so second to turn over this morning. Normally starts right up. Not sure what else it really could be with the smell coming from specifically the rear driver side. Any suggestions?

Corbro DGAF I got a 08 Tahoe and I also have a strong gas smell around that area. I got a new gas cap at the dealer still smells. Recently I got a code p0442 evap small leak detected. I don't know where else to look for a leak but if you fixed yours what was the issue

The other end that goes to the fuel cap, is there a specific place for it or just hangs next to the fuel hose. Sorry couldn't see exactly where you've fixed it

Drop the spare and spray it with blaster, then retighten and drop again. Might have to do it a couple times to break it lose

Sir i couldnt put my wheel down so what i did is i sprayed some wd40 and used some oil spray on it then i raised the wheel up again then when i lowered it again bingo it came down like butter

Will this install not work unless you clear the code? I replaced the whole assembly and still didn’t fix it. Still only pumps about 3/4 gal at the time before choking off.

the charcoal canister could be all plugged up. Maybe even the lines ontop on the fuel tank if u had a habit of filling the tank after it clicks off

Could you post what symptom causes you to replace this part? Bought my Denali used and everytime I fill up the engine stalls and quits. And to clarify I don’t top it off but I’m guessing previous owner did.

Bug Man on this vehicle there was no symptoms it was only a check engine light. Stalling after filling up doesn’t necessarily there’s a problem with the vent valve. If it kicks the gas pump off as you’re filling it that would be more likely The cause.

It will work but the code will not be cleared and the light will not go out. This little code reader is only about $30 and there’s a link for it in the description. It’s worth having to check in clear codes.

No the fuel in the tank is not going to matter at all on this repair.

Tj Ibarra you most likely have a purge valve that is stack Open causing the vapors to go into the engine and flood it. If you can hold your foot to the floor and the engine will start that’s most likely your problem. You also may have a code. P0496 Evap flow during non-purge. Purge valve is located on the intake right next to the throttlebody.

Yes, and sometimes need to use a jack to hold spare up after cranking it all the way up to release safety lock and start lowering crank and cable before lowering jack... it is in the manual and/or jack tools instructions

@@HowtoAutomotive appreciate it man. Just changed my upstream c02 sensor and the very next day the downstream sensor went lol. The day after I got that fixed the P0455 code popped up. Hopefully when I fix this I'll be good for awhile. Really love this truck.

You'll have to cut the cable for the tire. I hate that set up. I had a flat and never got it down once.
