Great tutorial and explanation of hose style AN fittings! I am more familiar with the hardline style AN connectors but need run some softline. If I may add, anyone working with AN fittings I suggest you get some type of AN wrenches to keep your fittings pretty, the are fragile and scar easily! Thanks for the video bud!

In a perfect world we would all have the fancy tools that commercial outfits have & that’s a hell of an investment for the hobbyist that might build & maintain 2-3 cars. If it works for you keep doing what you’re doing. I did stainless braid & -6 AN fittings like this on my 31 Ford back in 2004 & the gasoline SHREDDED (for lack of a better expression) the rubber hose under the stainless sheath. I went back to my local race car shop & bought PTFE AN fittings & hoses & it’s supposed to resist the corrosive properties of gasoline far better than other braided hose… I guess we’ll see.

What fittings are those? Asking because I had a fuel leak and it was coming from around the fitting. Exact same ones too. Think the hose may have backed out a little or nut was loose on the thread. Regardless, I took it apart and need to see if I can put it back while I have the car lifted in the rear.

Why crush the pipe and weaken it when you're cutting it with a grinder?
@michaelwall7845 жыл бұрын
Because the nippers bring the wire together so when you cut it with the grinder they don't fray.

It probably bends the ends of the tiny wires in-ward a bit, locking together. Try using non sticky E-tape, then a bit of sticky E-tape to hold it. Or non sticky E-tape, then a bit of hockey tape

My problem starts at the 3:02 mark.. When I remove the tape, the end of my line EXPLODES.. Not joking.. you know in the beginning of the video when you were intentionally trying to cause it to fray more? When I take the tape off, the end of my line makes a popping sound like popcorn, and literally BLOWS UP to a SUPER FRAY that is a much bigger mess than you were intentionally trying to make. When you take the tape off at 3:02... Your line did not POP! like my line is doing... WTF? My line is an old used piece and maybe it is no longer serviceable. If used line can't be re-worked.. What's the point of braided AN again? I'd rather just bend up steel at this point.. Seems easier.
