How to install and use the Britax Römer Dualfix i-Size and Dualfix M i-Size

The Britax Römer Dualfix M i-Size is a swivel ISOfix car seat that can be used for children who are between 61 and 105cm tall, this is approximately six months to four years.
The Dualfix i-Size comes with an additional newborn insert and can be used from birth.
In this video I show you how to install and use it.

Better than the manufacturer! Thank you so much. My only question that I can't seem to find the answer to is how to easily get the seat out of the car once you've got it in.

You've actually made a good point. I always make installation videos, but you're not the first person to ask how to remove the seats from the car. I think I may need to make a few more videos, haha! On this seats you pinch the red buttons on the sides of the ISOfix arms and pull the seat back. It's probably easier to turn the seat forward facing before you do this.

Thank you for this very clear explanation! We have a Dualfix m i-size. The baby is now 3,5 months and 67cm. He seems to be too big for the newborn-insert, but without it, the baby seems to be interfolded, the head inclined to one sholder. Is the baby in the right position or is there something to adjust?

Three and a half months is too young for the insert to come out as without it the seat is a lot deeper and therefore more upright and at three months babies can't keep their head up for long periods yet. In a rear facing seat the shoulder straps need to be level with the shoulders or just below, so if they are still above the shoulders in their lowest position, then the baby is still too small for the insert to come out.

Hello, great video. On the support leg I don’t have a green indicator, in exchange I have a red one who disappear when fixing the leg. Does this mean I have another base model?

There are a few different versions of the Dualfix, yours may well not have a green indicator. As long as it's no longer red and it's solid when you try to push it up, it's fine.

You pinch the red button between your finger and thumb to slide it back and that will release it.

I'm afraid not, this seat is ISOfix only.

No, not this one. Some seats have a separate base that it clips in and out of, but the Dualfix in this video is attached to its base and cannot be removed.

Thanks for the video. Unfortunatly the isofix does not open when I pull the string... is there anything I can do? Also I can barely turn it anymore. :(

It does sometimes get stuck, I've come across that before. Please contact Britax customer service, they will be able to help you.

The only difference between the Dualfix i-Size and Dualfix M i-Size is that the M doesn't come with a newborn insert and is suitable from about four months, whereas the i-Size is from birth. The insert does fit in the M version, but you don't get one with that version of the seat.

I pull the strap but the isofix doesent come out.. why ?

I have come across that before with this seat, it can get stuck sometimes. You may need to give it a bit of a wiggle and if you really can't do it, the best thing will be to contact Britax customer service.

Great Video, very informative. I bought the dualfix i-size and the bottom part of the seat does not seem to have any padding, only the cover directly on the hard seat. Is this normal or there is a part missing? It seems like it would be very uncomfortable for the child.

No, that is normal. Car seats are never overly padded as the padding could be compressed in a crash and then the straps would no longer be tight enough.

Hi, I recently got the Dualfix I-size for my daughter. She’s almost 7 months old and approximately 70cm long. But when she falls asleep in the chair, her head tilts towards her chest even though the chair is placed in the rest position. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep her head on the headrest? Thanks.

In some cars ISOfix car seats can be too upright, it depends on the angle of the seat and the position of the ISOfix points. There are a few things you can check. Make sure that the base is in contact with the front edge of the vehicle seat so that there is no gap underneath it. If there is a gap the seat will be too upright so make sure the base sits on the seat. Position the baby as low as possible in the car seat with her nappy touching the buckle strap, and make sure that the straps are level with her shoulders and nice and tight.
