Just did this in my 08 Super Cab, all four speakers, and I put a Rockford R300x4 amp in as well to power them. Tuned the amp with a SMD DD-1 and it sounds FANTASTIC. So worth the money to do all that. I also got a good tool for future installs and stuff out of it.

@nukedaddy7 жыл бұрын
I just installed these same speakers in my 2008 F-150 based on this video. This video helped immensely! The Fosgates sound awesome! I also trimmed that extra hole off of the speakers using a hand held jigsaw. You have to use a hacksaw blade because part of that piece is metal.

@@MyTruckGetsLow Did you have to reverse the wiring? I read the following on an amazon review "Also do yourself a favor and buy Metra 72-5600 adapters so you don't have to cut off the factory connectors. (and don't forget to reverse their polarity because they don't wire them right at the factory for some reason (positive is negative and negative is positive)."

I drive a 2007 F150 Lariat and appreciate the effort you put into posting this informative video. I'm embarking on the process of replacing my stock speakers with some JBL component speakers. I liked seeing the process in your video, so I know what the depth of the water is in advance. Hey, one thing you neglect to discuss is that you're wired with that factory tweeter up top, but you've now installed some sweet Rockford Fosgate speakers that have tweeters built in. Please make another video where you talk about how you balanced out that cacophony!!!! I gave you a thumbs-up, so please do this!
@MyTruckGetsLow7 жыл бұрын
Thanks you I'm glad you found this helpful. For the tweeters my truck actually doesn't have any. There are little plugs that are in place where they would go. If your truck has tweeters I would just unplug them and use the new speakers only because factory tweets are most likely not that good.
@nukedaddy7 жыл бұрын
For the record, these particular Fosgate speakers are 3-way, meaning they have tweeters already in them.

I ran into the same issues with my ‘07. Is the speaker flange that needs to be trimmed all plastic? Looks like part of the metal basket is there too. I was told to use a hack saw. How’s you cut yours and also keep the metal shavings off the magnet?

Does the adapter just slide on to the connectors on the speaker? Like do they just slide on?
@MyTruckGetsLow7 жыл бұрын
Yes, but they needed slight modification because the one side was too small for this particular speaker to slide on. Instead of trying to pry it open I just cut it off and spliced on a bigger one I had.
@jasonsmith57583 жыл бұрын
Umm.. How'd they sound?

You should install an aftermarket touch screen if it doesn't already have one.
@MyTruckGetsLow9 жыл бұрын
SIL3NTxSTUDIOS Thanks for the comment. I am satisfied with my current head unit, but if I have the extra money I will for sure upgrade to a touch screen. My next upgrade is adding subwoofers!
