I’ve mentioned this before and I’ll mention it again. This used to be an intimidating concept to me. But since I’ve been watching your content, the confidence slowly built up and I...(drumroll please...) have now successfully hooked my entire property to a very efficient drip system ! Thanks to you guys! So to my fellow subscribers to this channel, let me encourage you: it can be done!!! Keep on with the keeping on Laura and Aaron. Thanks for the content you share to us daily. God bless

You’re right about standing in front of all the drip hardware bins at the store ! A sketch is a good idea , and your plan for the main manifold and then 1/4 inch feeds on each is a good idea. Thank you for the great videos !

Me too! I’ve been staring at bins all summer and haven’t done anything yet. I’m not sure I’m going to use the drip emitters that you did, but essentially everything else is exactly what I need. And I might go with the drip emitters anyway in the raised beds. For the in-ground beds I think I’m going to use a flat soaker hose, but I’m still thinking on that. I hope to get this done is the next couple of weeks for the fall garden and to make sure it’s in place before next spring so that I can finally go on a summer vacation and not have to pay someone to water every day. Of course I’ll have someone check on things every couple of days. But your video was so precise on what to get and how to put it together that I feel much more comfortable about what to buy and how to do it. Thank you so much!

Wow! What an excellent explanation and demonstration! Thank you so much. We are in the process of building new raised beds and I am considering adding drip irrigation to those. We are in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, but summers here can be very hot. A system like this will keep us from spending long times in the sun, and will keep our watering more consistent.

Another tip: you can take the end of your run of drip tubing and circle back to the beginning and connect with a "T" fitting. That way you don't have to plug it and it pressure balances the whole run. Also, do you guys have a pressure reducer on that zone or is it all line pressure?

@@ivy4559 he said the small tubes with holes drip water they end by pinching them closed or with a cap he said instead of having them in lines, make them into loops by attaching them together, end to end, with a plastic piece called a T It's called a T because it looks like a T by doing this the whole line is the same pressure because it's one long tube when all T'd together Hope this helps!!

P.s in these uncertain times I am so excited when i get a notification from your channel. Gardening is a beautiful escape away from the stresses of life. God has blessed us with so many different plants and vegetation. Considering he created a garden in the first couple of days shows us how much he loved them. He went into the garden to pray and to seek peace and calm. I just went off on a tangent. Point is in these crazy times we can lean into what God has given us and seek peace and calm as He did 💜

Over a year later your video is a great resource for information regarding irrigating raised bed vegetable gardens (which we have in our yard). We ended up having to build a deer and groundhog proof fence around our raised bed garden, and figured why not move the current underground water line from our shed to inside the fenced area for irrigating our vegetables (and a second location outside the fenced area which will be closer to my flower garden). Sharing this with my hubby who will be doing the work.

I have used drip since in my 30's. It's the only way to go. At 67 yrs, I no longer have the hand strength to push the connectors in place. I have always heard try dipping the tubes in hot water. It works BUT using a lighter is so much easier. Hold the tube to the flame for 2-5 seconds and your connector will slide on like butter.

Drip systems are great and there are so many different options to work with, like different types of strips and sprayers. I was very intimidated when I first started but realize real quickly it was very easy to put together one thing Lauryn didn't mention is there is a limit to how long of a run you can have and how many sprayers and drivers you can have on each run. It's all based on how good your pressure is in your water system. One way I find to help if you have low pressure is instead of just running a long length that just ends by itself, loop it back onto itself so your system makes a closed circle. Connect the end peace to the beginning if that makes sense, it'll help with even distribution. It is hard to find drip by me, not enough people use it so I have to order it online. Have fun with it.

Hi Laura!! I think having a drip irrigation system is great, especially for a property of your size. I have a standard size yard and I love to water my plants with a hose, old school style. I find it extremely therapeutic. 😃😄😀😂

Thank you Laura and Aaron. Your videos inspired me to put in my drip system. Last summer here in central Texas was BRUTAL. I just finished the drip system in a back 40‘ x 5‘ flower bed and I’m about to work on my veggie garden, then The front garden beds. All due to you Laura!💥💥 And hey, congrats on 724k subscribers!! 💥💥

Hi Laura! I just wanted to add that you can also add drip irrigation ball valves to each bed. So if you have a main faucet system (such as your first example) you can in fact turn it into your second example (faucet in each bed) and shut water off to certain beds while the other can continue to be use. Just another option :)

I’m going to ask you because you seem to know what to do....my veggie bed is about 30-40 ft away from the spigot. Should I attach 1/2 inch poly tubing to the spigot or run a hose to the veggie garden and attach the hose to the 1/2 inch poly? I’m worried I won’t have enough pressure if I have such a long stretch of poly.

such great information!! i usually let hubby do our sprinkler system but since watching you, i suddenly have "input", HAHAHA.. i have to be careful not to step too far into his territory (because hey, i don't want to lose my help!) but it's funny to see his expression when i have an opinion on it now... it's such good info to know tho, because i can communicate to him what i think we should have in various areas (even if he doesn't always agree, lol)... i just feel so much smarter! lol... totally off the subject: WHITE FENCE IN THE BACKGROUND!! looking so good over there!! so excited to see that area develop.. and speaking of watering systems, there's some work over there to be done, lol...

I'm so glad I went to my local hardware. I bought the wrong drip irrigation tubing. I chuckled when I looked at the prices, .the most expensive was the timer.

I've used this before in the past, and I've changed to a hard line system with bubblers in stream sprays. What I didn't like about this soft tubing above ground, it was too easy for the animals to cut into the tubing since we're in such a severe drought on the West Coast. I got tired of the birds picking out the tubing also. The coyotes if they get a hold of the tubing can pull all the tubing out of the bed and also up for it a lot of the vegetables. I've gone to a hard line PVC, with risers and at the end of each riser a bubbler are stream spray head. Then results the flowerbed still gets the water, it's just a more professional way for irrigation. It's also more expensive.

Good explanation! I, too, had to figure out irrigation for myself years ago when it wasn’t popular on the east coast and supplies were limited; it can be confusing. There are shutoff valves that can be added to the mainline tubing at each bed to turn off water when not needed for that bed. Thanks for the great video!
