Thank you I already knew this because I do drywall myself, but up employee and myself had an argument and it's video proved that I was right. I told him they should be at least 16 inches apart two screws and never breaking the paper. Also I mentioned that the seams should never be over doors or Windows because they will crack. Thank you so much for confirming the proper methods.

Do you use routers to cut prior to installing the board? also when staggering board how much do you cut off for the bottom section of a wall?
@carsongoodman5581
@carsongoodman5581 2 жыл бұрын
@@chrisjennings1204 technically you don’t use a router, it’s a drywall cut out tool. It’s lighter and used 1 handed. The tool has less torque and has higher rpm. You tack the board up then cut around your box counterclockwise. (That’s pretty important) Stagger should be 4 foot.

If you don't keep the t square pressed all the way down on the drywall it will be curved 99 out of 100 times. Trust me, I've been there many, many times. Also, laying the drywall on benches/tables/etc. is not optimal. Just cut it while it is laying on its side (and upright) unless you just have to lay it out.

Watching this video i see multiple issues. Ceilings ALWAYS go on first. The walls boards support the ceiling along corners. Drywall should almost always be installed across the studs to help bridge framing irregularities and for added strength. Routers are used primarily for cutting out boxes and a large drywall saw is most often used for windows and doors to although some rockers use a router with a larger bit.. It's fine but very dusty. Drywall is installed over boxes and doors and windows. Boxes are marked first to make easy to locate once installed. Do Not cut to the edges of doors or windows on top sheets, to avoid stress cracks directly lined up with the edges of doors and windows. Top sheets of board get pushed up to the already installed ceiling. Tops go on first and a drywall lift is used to pick up the bottom sheets. Corner bead is pushed to the ceiling when installed. These are a few tips from a rocker that has installed board as a piece worker for 40 years. Talk with pros! Also, leave the board against the walls as you cut and break them. Full score the sheet facing you and a partial score on the opposite side in the middle as far as you can reach comfortably then sharply snap the board. If the board is dry it will snap cleanly. You don't work from a platform or bench set-up. Go watch pros do it on a new house in your area. It will pay off handsomely. Drywall is heavy for most average workers so a partner is necessary for most sheets. It takes a little practice like any new trade would. Good luck JW

Points for knowing a lot. Question: Do most ordinary homeowners own a "router"? Professionals aren't watching this video to start with. And is it called a "router"? Theres a bunch of vids on here, like a 2 minute tutorial will tell you all you need, then just grab the tools and get at it. Be patient and don't worry if it feels like it feels slower than than the pros, and keep your hands and tools clean will help a lot too. PS if you are doing a ceiling I'd recommend watch a couple pros do it so you can see how they prop the sheets up. Will save your arms neck and back and probably save a few broken sheets too lol
