Regards the counter top cut out - the reason for rounded corners is to avoid stress point where a crack can form (that's why airplane windows are also rounded) - this is a point for consideration when cutting your opening or giving sizes to those providing the counter tops

Is the cooktop resting on the Glass or the 8 plastic pieces/tabs, because if the cutout is 1 inch bigger, then these tabs can't hold the cooktop, and a lot of pressure will be on glass surface, it might break.

Hello. Hopefully you can help. I'm installing a cook top and wanted to substitute the wires it comes with to a 3 prong range cord. I'm clear about connecting the two ends to the black and red, but not sure how the middle would connect, i.e. To where the ground is or somewhere else.
@KevinPon.

👋 hello, the ground wire must be connected to bare copper or a green wire. If it's not there then it's not correct. You must have the correct parts 🍻

6:00 In Europe 220-240V a 32A MCB and AWG9 =6mm². Or two hot phases 16A MCB 2x AWG13 =2.5mm². Typical power 7200W Armored cables are not necessary in Europe, we use ordinary PVC cables. And a insulated box. Wirenuts are not allowed in Europe. We use screw terminals or WAGO terminals. WAGO is installed very quickly and is approved for up to 40A at 400V.

Hi Kevin - thanks for this video:) Wondering what model of Bosch cooktop this is? Also, looks like your cooktop came with AWG 8/2 wiring and I see you have a 40A double pole breaker, so I assume the cooktop has an amperage of 32A max given the 80% rule. What is the AWG gauge of your wiring to your power panel? Thank you

There is a piece at the back of the cooktop. It is short and affixed by one screw but it does have the two fins which have an angled area. I suppose when installing this will help push the back center forward. Did you remove this piece?

A good electrician will always twist the wire together and then put on the wire nut. Wire nuts manufacturers say twisting wires together is not needed however their sales pitch is tailored to the speed to connect. Having a solid mechanical connection by twisting the wire first and using the wire nut mainly for insulation with the additional mechanical strength of twisting on a wire nut makes for a better job.
@jimmyc938
@jimmyc938 4 ай бұрын
I usually just tighten the wire nuts tightly until the wires twist together then give each wire a tug test. I am a licensed electrician. Most electricians I work with do the same. When you take off the wire nut... you'll notice the wires are twisted together.

What are the disadvantages of installing it like this. I am worried about ventilation, insects staying below it and the pressure on the sides of the cooktop since that's what's holding it down.

Yes it can. A year ago, I had one side of the burners replaced by a technician. If yours did not come with seal foam tape along the edges then I would put that. You could caulk it but if you ever need to replace a burner, it can get messy removing the caulk. Seems like a hassle to remove, clean and reapply. 🍻
