Nice little tutorial, just fitted a front pair on my 2012 mk6, with the new version of VCDS, using coding helper and selecting bit 3, it gives you a list of items to enable making the coding easier :)

Great job! But one of the wires I bought is orange and bronwn, and the other is orange and grey, which one is the positive and which one the negative? Can I activate the function with the vagcom before connecting the wires to see if it works while I'm doing the job or firstly I have to connect the wires and then activate with vagcom? Great tutorial! Is the option for the puddle lights always available or are there versions of door electronics that are not? In the last case it would be easier to check first if that option is accepted when you program it. This could potentionally save you a lot of work.

Hi VCDS software comes with its own cable you cant use any kind of obd2 cable with VCDS. When you purchase the VCDS it includes the software and cable.

Josef Vlogs Is your VW the European or North American version? The reason I ask is because I own a 2014 Passat (North America version) and I installed the door welcome lights with VW logo and I did not have use the VCDS it was a plug in and go type of install.

J S No, it’s not the same. The value for each car can be different. But you can add 64 to you value.

Hello. I have a Golf 5 from 2003. On the front doors my windows regulator motors doesn't have the pins installed. On the driver side with part number 1K0959793C, only have the 19 pin. On passenger side with part number 1K0959792C, the 18 and 19 pin is not available. Is there other way to install the door warning lights without these pins?

Passenger door should have have connector. If not. Use pin 4 for + and pin 14 for - opposing sides.
