when I was a kiddo @ 16 had a summer job laying tile on new construction of an apartments but that was 41 yrs ago so needed a refresher on how to do it for my old as dirt home built in 1952. but got it for under 100K lots to fix on it.

This video es humiliating to me. I spent 2 days installing the valve only to have to remove it and buy a new one. And hence, this amazing guy does the job in one day and a half. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INSPIRATION PLUS THE INSTRUCTION

Great job, this is exactly how it's done. It's all about symmetry. That's how I was trained to tile in the UK. The experts in my corner of the world always start with a full tile in one of the corners and, man, those v-shaped gaps don't look nice. I guess that means our walls are not true and plumb. Keep up the great work, Jeff.

Really wish I would of watched this first.. I was putting the mortar on each tile individually. I did eventually figure it out and 3/4 of the way done... so not every tile is leveled. I'm still happy with it being my first attempt at a tile diy.

First off, love your videos! Very well put together and extremely helpful! I’m hoping you can answer a quick question. Is it ok to use 2x3 instead of 2x4 stacked three high for the shower pan curb? I’m replacing a tub with a shower and am trying to get the most floor space out of the room. I’m installing an OVE Glendale glass sliding door, which is similar to the one in one of your videos. The center guide is 3” wide so I figured I’d have 4” total so 1/2 inch on either side when done. What do you think and thanks for your time.

Jeff , can you trim bullnose tile? My wall is 37.5", my pan is 36", and with my five 3x6 subway tiles plus a bullnose I am looking at 38", right? So, I should trim my bullnose down half in inch? Thank you so much for these videos! They are life savers!

@@HomeRenoVisionDIY thank you so much for the reply! I think we will go with the 1 inch quarter round. One more question, the trim will end up outside the 36 inch backerboard and be on the drywall. The trim will also be outside of the shower doors. Is it OK to hang on drywall with thinset?

Great video and inspiring, because in Indonesia we have different way to install the tile. Is the cement, only cement? or mix with sand?. We used too mix cement and sand..

We use a 1 step just add water product here. It has been may years since we mixed concrete for the showers. Although it does work amazing.

Angel, the orange membrane in the screen shot is the water proof membrane. I also have the video on how to install it.

The best on the market. You could also use a roll on membrane from mapei. This is also very good.The home depot is now selling a roll on membrane called "Red"

Purple board and Aqua defense was placed in ours, we were supposed to install shower wall panels, but now thinking of tiles. Is it still ok to put tiles even tho its not some type of backerboard

I recently removed the tub from my shower and build a stand up shower. I waterproofed everything with the Kerdi membrane and shower pan, basically their entire kit. I am planning on tiling 24" x 12" ceramic tiles on the ceiling and surround. I am worried about installing such a large tile on the ceiling, which is covered in the Kerdi membrane. Do you have any advice about making sure they don't fall on my head as I am working in there? Thanks

Check with a proper tile supply store, they should have a cement that is non modified and rated to hold 30lbs per sq foot on a ceiling. It may sound a little weird but it works well. As long as you applied the kerdi membrane properly you shouldn't have a problem.

try to work clean and then you can use a grout remover tool the next day and wipe up with a sponge. I like to wet the wall and then use the tool and then wipe clean. The tool is available at home depot and is under 20 bucks.

Oswaldo Rabanal use a sponge while it's still wet. or, carefully with a utility knife in the joints, sharp chisel or putty knife on the flats if it is dry. don't scratch the surface!

non-modified cures slower and performs better if it stays wet while curing. when using waterproofing systems best to use non-modified. in many ohter applications you can use modified except when applying the membrane to the wall.

That’s horrible lol. You didn’t space the first row from the tub to allow for expansion. Your grout or caulking along the tub will crack. Also you didn’t level your first row. The tub is never level. Hack job
