The first part of the video with the gooofy circus movie I was nervous it was only an unboxing (too similar to me sitting here with my open box not sure what went where) but it wound up super clear to set up.

No, they can be used to stop the flow of water if the pump is removed or needs a filter change.

Did you ever figure what the funnel-looking part is for? It's not in any manuals or video. The part that was not in the plastic bag of the other parts. See 1:48

How powerful is the 1000GPH pump? I have the 530G one(the same A filter) and is rated only 45W.

Its enough for smaller pools like mine. But It would take us running it for 4 to 7 hours daily before and after using the pool.

Creo debes botar el aire de las mangueras si ves burbujas es porque tienen aire las mangueras , encima del filtro hay un perno que se afloja hazlo y saldra un poco de agua con las burbujas y listo .

The top hose must be up to the pump and the filter you put it on must be connected to the one in front of the filter.

Was the plug in the right spot and did you end up installing the screws on the grid n other strainers? The instructions(which don't look like yours) are not very clear.
