Important correction: At 3:20 the O-Ring should be on the housing NOT the cap. iSpring has said "If the o-ring for the membrane housing is installed inside the membrane cap the o-ring will tear or break when the cap is tightened and the o-ring crosses over the threads of the membrane cap. The O-ring needs to be installed on the edge or lip of the membrane housing to avoid this." Cheers.

Thanks for taking the time and explaining. I have a question should I pump air into the storage tank? Bc it says maximum pressure should be 100 psi so if my water source have about 35 to 45 psi. How can I get 100 psi. Should I add air from the bottom .thanks

No that’s just a max rating meaning it can’t exceed 100 psi. It should be factory set properly to where u should have to do anything to it.

Any suggestions on drilling the drain hole into a stainless steel pipe? I do not have PVC drain pipes.

Use a drill bit and dip it in oil every so often when you are drilling the hole so that it cools it off. Otherwise it’s the same process just takes a bit longer to drill it.

On the side of the water tank near the bottom, there's something that looks like a valve and is covered by a blue cap. Do I need to do anything with it or just leave it alone? Thx!

No just leave it alone. It’s probably the air valve for the air bladder that’s in the tank.

I rent I’m not sure I can drill into the piping. Is there a way to install this seamlessly without destructive modifications?

You could get a new drain pipe and replace it before moving out. Here is a drain kit you can buy: amzn.to/3haQ9o2 I have a video on how to do a drain: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fNSFqZNes7S-g2Q.html Otherwise, these units are designed to be under the sink as a permanent solution. You may also find some sort of plug to plug the hole. Since it's a drainpipe there is no pressure there so that could work too.

Yes u need to install a separate faucet for the clean RO water.

What about backflow or cross connection? If the sewer backs up will the sewage travel into the drinking water?

No, there is a check valve that prevents that from happening.

You skipped a step. Flushing the black charcoal out the first time is necessary, and the tank valve should be closed.

i actually tried this with my first 3 stages, and perfectly clear water came out... not sure if they fixed the charcoal filter or pre purge it, but there was zero colored water coming out...

We are having a problem. The drain (black tubing) continues to run when the tap is on or off. The drain system is on continuously. Any thoughts?

Every time you use it you are using the water from the pressure tank. Then when you turn it off the ro refills the pressure tank and while it’s running some of it goes into the drain. So I’m pretty sure it’s normal. Eventually it should stop once the pressure tank is full.

Hey. Just want to mention that you're not supposed to touch the wet blue membrane when you insert it. It seems you did when you pulled it out of the bag.

Why not? I've never heard of that before. The main filtration happens inside of the membrane and not on the outside so I don't see why you can't touch it.

What size is the drill bit for the tubing?!? And what is the black gasket tape called?

Not sure. I just took a drill bit that was slightly larger then the outside diameter of the tubing. Don’t know about the gasket it’s some kind of foam material.

what pressure is your source? Could the 4 way valve be damaged? I'm not really sure it could be multiple different things. I never had those kinds of issues before. Try troubleshooting one thing at a time. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

You mean like on a well system? As long as you have at least 50-60 psi coming into this system and you have a good pre-filter then I don’t see why not.

@@Erik-tc6pg No, your system would of been fine. It's just your very first batch of water wouldn't of been the best especially for drinking. But eventually while using the system the flushing would of occurred naturally. I personally don't always flush it when I replace my filters. I might let it run for like 2-5 minutes and that's it. On a new system it just ensures you flush out any debris in the line if there were any.

Typically 3-6 months for all the filters except for RO membrane. RO membrane needs to be replaced about every 2-3 years. Really depends on your usage too.

I believe you can buy a fancy faucet that will allow you have two streams from one faucet but typically you need a separate facet.

The issue there is that the faucet handles both cold and hot,depending on the faucet. This RO system only filters cold. To get both you’d need a whole house system which filters all water at the point it comes into the house, before it’s “divided” between hot and cold. Although as Dadicated said, if it’s a special faucet.. if the faucet had two separate handles, one hot and one cold, I suppose the output of system could go to just the cold output(?). I’d call ISpring and ask.

These systems are too small for what you trying to attempt to do. They can only generate so much water at a time in the holding tank, it is not an infinite supply of water from the tap. Hence this is why the supplied faucet is much smaller, it's only intended for low volume drinking purposes.

What would be nice is a 6-stage system like this that filters both hot and cold water. Perhaps that isn't possible?

Well you can have two systems under the sink and have your feed water for one cold and for other hot. The only problem then is how long will the pressure tank keep the hot water hot. Cuz usually the water is stored in the pressure tank and when you open the valve it comes from the tank and then the tank is being refilled when the faucet valve is closed. Plus why would you need it for hot water?

You could get a whole house RO system then you would have both hot and cold water. Those systems are a ton more money though.

Yes that’s a normal process of the RO. I recommend making sure it’s pushed all the way down touching the pipe wall so when it trickles it goes against inside of the pipe wall and you don’t hear it as much. It’s also the reason why you install it in the horizontal pipe section that connects the two sink drains.

It's always going to do that. But if it's done right you shouldn't be hearing the trickling. Like on mine I don't hear it at all.

What do you mean pump? Typically after installation and after the tank fills up you would need to flush it for at least 10-15 minutes. Sometimes it's a good idea to flush the entire tank.

Give some time for the pressure tank to fill and build pressure. Than try again and see.

After installing, our alkaline readings are almost 11. Is there any way to lower alkaline level?

Add more acid. But ph level of 11 seems really high are u sure your meter is reading right?

@@Daddicated yes, it is a new digital reader and I checked it with 8.8 alkaline water I purchased at the store. It read exactly 8.8. My tap water is 7.4, and I read that the system I have is supposed to raise the ph level by 1.0, not sure why ours is so high. I emailed the company, hoping to get a response back. I have been putting drops of lemon juice in the water to lower alkaline ph, but it’s a hassle.

@@haralbi I emailed the manufacturer, they sent me a replacement alkaline filter, and told me that if it was still high, to bypass the alkaline filter, which we did. The alkaline levels without the alkaline filter are in the 8 range.

The saddle should be on top of the pipe NOT on the side of the pipe... as with Johnson...you did not include flushing the carbon filters

@Daddicated Perhaps you want it on top to minimize the chance that drain water flowing in the pipe would try to make its way out through the hole drilled for the saddle.

@@victoryak86 I think it will be fine. That drain pressure in the tube is pretty high so i doubt the main drain will create back flow. What flows to the path or least resistance. So I’m not worried about a couple of drops.
