When you're working by yourself it can be difficult. I use a third arm and instead of pencil marks i use a bosch laser. Saves time and goes very quick

Saved thousands doing my self well had two friends come help but KZfaq has some helpful videos like this one. Took a weekend just take your time and have fun. What is the piece of wood(2"x1") for on the wall next to the cabinet at 7:10 into the video?

That wood is for the next upper cabinet to rest on so I can screw them to the wall. Good question.

GREAT video! As a boy, I climbed up on the counter and inadvertently pulled a cabinet full of canned goods and dishes down off the wall.. Since then, I've worried about putting heavy objects in upper cabinets. Are six screws in each cabinet really enough to assure it won't come down?

If the floor is uneven. You will need to find the highest spot on the floor and then shim the rest of the cabinets to that height.

Special drill, a hammer drill. Corded ones are about $60 or $70. Also special blue screws called tapcon screws

Hi, the kitchen wall that you hanged cabinets on, is it cement board or just regular drywall? asking because of the backsplash install. it seems that cabinets have a back to them, so it doesn't need to be painted. but the backsplash tile should be installed on cement board correct? Thanks.

I noticed the floors are a little built up. Any reason why you didn't put anything under the cabinets to bring them up to the floor level (plywood, etc.)

So you drilled into the splints but didnt show how you got rid of them after. What if the floor is uneven ? How do you deal with that?

You dont necessarily start with the cabinet in the highest point. 9 times out of 10, you dont. Depending on layout, you start with an inside corner usually.... THATS WHY YOU HIRE A PRO

I just had a boozy smelling contractor come by to give me a quote on cabinet install. He absolutely insisted that no way do you install upper cabinets first like I asked him to do. Not gonna use that guy. So came to KZfaq and see your video. THANK YOU

Quick question. When all the cabinets are installed and shelves are in. Are you supposed to see the screws on the top cabinets? Or are you supposed to screw the top cabinets in a way that you shouldn’t be able to see any screws ?

You wo t see the screws because of all the crap you're gonna have in the cabinet, put the screws where they need to be and dont worry about the petty stuff

Good question yes the uppers may need to be shamed if the wall are not perfectly level and plumb.

Get a stud finder that detects metal. The lath are attached with nails to the studs.

Hi, approximately how many screws per cabinet? What types of screws are used?

Most of the time the screws come with the cabinet but if not the big box store sells them as cabinet screws. I used on these cabinets 6 screws on the uppers and 4 on the lower. thanks for watching and subscribing.

so you put a borad to set the cupboard on.. then took it off..so where did the other board come from that shows up at 7:25?

Usually the screws come with the new cabinets. If not there about 2.5-3"

Are the bottom cabinets on tiles or are they on the base floor?

They are on the base floor but I did shim them to be even with the tile because of the dishwasher. Thanks for watching.

I didn't see where you took the shims out, so I"m not 100% on that. You just have them there while you run the screws in so the wall doesn't warp? And then take them out when you are done, leaving a small gap?

No you leave the shims in place after you install the screws.Thanks for watching.
