In this video i will be showing you how to install a performance cone air filter such as a K and N filter, this works by removing the old air box and increasing airflow which will increase horsepower by a few horsepower usually 5 to 7 hp. It also make the engine revs louder and if you have a turbo it will make the spools sound a lot louder.

This gave me anxiety 1.i wanted to see the dirty side of the airfliter not the clean side 2. Won't ad hp, maybe less because sucking in hot air 3. Will make more induction noise, but can't hear it over the tappets. Oil change would be better 4. Can the bonnet/hood still shut? My suggestion would be just put in a k&n panel filter in the stock airbox, change that stock plastic pipe for aluminium pipe. And give it a service, new spark plugs, fuel filer, oil filter, oil. But if it took two men 17mins to undo 6 screws a 2 hose clamps...

What do you mean you wanted to see dirty side of filter. Its not what this video is about haha, and yes i know it wont add hp when running hot it will be sucking up hot air which will give lower hp but not too much lower as this car is non turbo. So will lose at max 5hp to 10hp. Yes oil change is needed and so is a full service we are aware of this. But we have many cars we are working on so this is not atm priority. It will be done and most likely videos will be made on it in future. Yes the bonnet opens and closes fine, nothing catches lot of room left. The reason to use this is for more noise rather than power so a panel filter wouldnt defeat the purpose. Lastly we took 17 minutes as we slow down each step to make it simple to anyone watching how to do it. For example go watch my mk6 golf video on how to use headlight washer. Majority is dislikes because i did that video too quick and most couldnt follow. This video is to help all people even beginners so will have to do step by step.

i have a question it will be possible to install a turbo on natural aspired like this one ?

Yes you can but will need to spend quite a bit of money on making some of the engine parts stronger and will need to modify the oil line and will have to get the car remapped to make it all work properly. Its a lot of headache but if you have the time and money go for it bro

Great vid lads, thanks. I have an 07 1.9 CDTi, she's nifty enough as it is, 6 speed gearbox too. I'll be investing in one of those. Gonna clean my bloody engine too, yours looks mint. Anything you'd recommend? Some degreaser maybe? That other pipe that also went into the air box, do u just leave that?

Thanks boss it means a lot, and sweet you got a nice motor, bet it pulls like a train in them lower gears 😎, ours was cleaned before the video haha, we used autoglym engine and machine cleaner. It looked so clean after that, and we used microfibre cloths. After that we used a black shine cant remember the brand of it but any good branded one will be good, so then the blacks are blacker and it gets that glossy shine. We left that tiny pipe it didn't cause any problems, but our air filter was just a generic one. If you get a specific one for your model it might have a hole for you to put the pipe in

@@johnthegodfatherslack no problem bro, hopefully 2022 more astra content will come, been sat on drive since pandemic waiting for cousins driving test to be booked haha, once he passes we can get it road legal again and get doing work on it and more content on the car 😎😎, i was looking at getting some vxr ronal alloys for the car and painting them black, but its hard to find a good priced set haha, but i got all the time in the world there will be one that comes hopefully

Looks good... Where the cold feed getting to the engine aswell as the hot air?

On start till engine warms up it will feed cold air and get a few more hp, but once engine bay is very warm it will be pulling in hotter air which isnt as good so will be down on power rather than stock one. But we didn't plan to do anything power related to it as its naturally aspirated engine only way to pull out more power would be to turbocharge it and tune it. So we mainly did this for the louder noise it makes and it sounds a lot better

Yes as it doesn't affect anything really like wont increase engine power or anything, if it does will be like 2hp or 3hp very miniscule

No we got a universal one and k and n should fit bro as long as they provided all the pipe fitments for the car should be fine

Yep haha, this was never meant to gain any hp from it only for sound as this car is non turbo anyways so no point trying to add more power to it without putting in a turbo haha

the problem with these idiotic mods is, once the bonnet is closed, the filter-intake will draw in hot air only, reducing engine efficiency.

Doesnt really affect power on this car as it is non turbo naturally aspirated car, this is only a problem for car with turbo as they require cold air to create power
