I show my wife how to properly glue points in her arrows for the first time. Assembling arrows for the first time seems like a complicated task, but following these simple guidelines makes for a fool proof way to glue points in your arrows.

I really Like these beginner videos with your wife because you go in depth in details. Also she asks very Good questions and the interaction between you two makes for a fun video. Please continue. Regarding tip lean up and prepping, I also use a mini round bristle brush with pure alcohol or pure acetone to brush the inside of the tip and remove dust and any oily residue to make sure glue sticks well. I too have experienced the point crawling out because of the pressure build up of the trapped air, your advice is right on. I ran out of propane the other day and remembered I have a mini heat gun for shrink tubing and was gladly surprised it heated the metal tip and also the glue like the flame does. I was able to glue my points this way without using a flame. Still you need to be careful with the heat as you can still burn yourself. The flame is better for precisely heating the tip if you end up with partially inserted tips. To loosen tips without overheating the carbon I discovered that a water vapor steamer, those used for removing wrinkle on clothes are great. Glue softens enough to be pulled out. I will get another propane bottle but this alternatives allowed me continue my work. Hope it helps others. Thanks for another great video!

I would probably use thread locker to keep the two pieces of the points together so you could unscrew them if you wanted to replace the break off section in the future.

A little heat and the super glue will give way. Plus we wanted to get it done asap and didnt want to wait for the thread locker to dry, but yeah the blue locker would have been best.

A two inch heat candle is enough of a heat source to heat point and hotmelt. When done right you can hold the point in your hand and push the point all the way in. Hotmelt should also hold the tread part without using superglue. And makes it easier to switch weight insert if necessary.

Additionally if you dont have a burner the stove works pretty well. With cool melt you just heat up the component for maybe 10-15 seconds, pressing it against the cool melt block when hot is enough to melt it and spread it.

I watched the prior and I was just going to add since I am a very messy super glue guy, Try loctite or just finger nail polish. I actually just use clear fingernail polish on the little screws on my eyeglasses. Your wife is a fast learner. I do recommend a mask and eye protection around any saw, only experience about 44 years ago having a ER doctor flick out a piece of weld slag with a spinal needle. Great job on the explaining and that Pro Tip, do I send money for that one?

Hey Jake, awesome stuff! I had a question though. As an archer who is just starting out, I was wondering if there is anything wrong with starting with aluminum? and why you guys decided to start with carbon and not aluminum.
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 3 жыл бұрын
Aluminum is great. I use them indoors personally. However if you watch the first video in this series kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g72lmctnm9vUqqs.html you'll see why we went carbon, simply to reach further distances.

What arrow tip weight do you prefer for 70m? 80 grains for more speed or something heavier for less affect from wind.
