In this in depth video I go over how to install the Power Pole Micro onto any Kayak. It's a fairly easy process, but I wanted to be as specific as possible so anyone who watches this video, regardless of skill level can perform this installation. I go over all the tools and items you'll need to install this, and give you a few tips that will make this a better install, and not give you trouble down the road. I hope this helps you guys, and I've got some more yak install video's coming soon.

Also, I power wash my yak after each use, I probably shouldn’t mount my deck switch correct??? Probably can’t handle all that water right??
@FloBass
@FloBass 2 жыл бұрын
That switch has a rubber seal in it, so normal rain, and water from fishing is perfectly fine, but a direct blast from a power washer probably isn't good. I've never had an issue with mine where I mounted it.

Easy video everything perfect but my mount did not line up perfectly with my ss127 I had to force everything which I’m sure won’t be great if I ever want to take it off
@FloBass
@FloBass 4 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't cause any issues as long as you didn't cross thread the inserts. At the end of the day, we ask a lot of our plastic boats.

What’s your reasoning for not using the quick release?? Just curious.🤷🏼‍♂️
@FloBass
@FloBass 2 жыл бұрын
At the time when I owned this kayak, I could only think of two reasons you might need to use the quick release. I knew they were situations I wouldn't be getting myself into with this kayak. The first, being loosing power or a dead battery. The second would be to go under a low bridge, or under trees, etc. All the places I regularly fish here in Florida are wide open and I wouldn't need to go under anything, and the battery lasts multiple trips. I charge it the day before any trip so its full. There's always the chance something fails with the anchor, and I'd need it, but the bonafide is so stable I can fold the seat down and just climb to the back and deal with it. But I just got back from a trip up north where I had to go under some tunnels, and I did utilize the quick release so I'd fit.

For other kayaks a mount would likely need to be fabricated from seaboard so it would mount off to the side. i.e. like for a Vibe SeaGhost. or any kayak that has a standard type rudder.
@FloBass
@FloBass 5 жыл бұрын
Yes a yak with a rudder could run into that situation. Many have enough room in the back to mount it right next to the rudder. Only issue would be when you pole down the boat will experience yaw when the pole drags the bottom while moving. Not really a huge deal, but could be annoying for some.

@@FloBass I actually made a DIY one that is gravity operated and I have it mounted on the side but as far back as possible and it stays pretty straight in current.

Great video man. I am getting mine tomorrow. Question is, if you physically mount that switch to the yak itself, how do you change the battery without removing it every time and therefore stripping the holes? I don't have it yet so I do not know how the toggle switch opens. Thanks.
@FloBass
@FloBass 5 жыл бұрын
The battery lasts a pretty long time so its not really an issue. The holes wont strip as long as you don't over tighten them when you put them back in. They basically cut the threads into the plastic of the yak and will continually follow them when to take the screws in and out.

3 questions 1 what price for the setup with wireless batt. 2 does the power pole auto stop when it hits ground and goes up or was that you stopping it? And 3 how long do those batt last?
@FloBass
@FloBass 5 жыл бұрын
The micro, battery, and spike is around $900. Yes the spike auto stops when it hits the bottom. You can adjust the force from gentle to hard. I got about 3 full day trips worth of battery before it died out on the water at the end of day 3. I couldn't say how many times it went up and down, but it was definitely a lot. Long battery life.
@rogerdesrosiers4049

Cool thanks alot..I know the micro is like 500 to 600 so the batt set up is 300ish?
@FloBass
@FloBass 5 жыл бұрын
595 for the micro, 195 for the battery, and around 100 for a spike. Get the long one and cut it down if you need to.

I transport my Bonafide SS 127 on a Yakima Rack and Roll trailer including a 450 mile Interstate trip twice a year. Can I leave the motor mounted while traveling? Naturally, not the pole!
@FloBass
@FloBass 4 жыл бұрын
You could, but I don’t recommend it. I lost the thumbscrew for the clamp that way. Power pole was nice enough to send one out free of charge after I inquired to buy one.

Did the power pole come with the battery pack or did you have to purchase separate?
@FloBass
@FloBass 3 жыл бұрын
No the battery is separate. The power pole does come with a cable you can connect to an existing 12 volt battery if you have one. But the pack makes it much easier.

Great video but I don't think you could do this on an ascend kayak there isn't enough plastic on the back end to drill 4 holes and mount it unless I'm missing something. I sold mine years ago but now that I live near a shallow river with smallmouth I would like another one so when I want to fish the river I can. Cuz the ranger won't fit in the river lol.
@FloBass
@FloBass 3 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the cheaper ascend kayaks in the $600, no there's not enough room on the back to direct mount it. You'd have to build a platform. There's always a way to make something work.
