How to Install Ram 1500 Upgraded Speakers!! (4th Gen 1500,2500,3500)

I finally decided to do some more upgrades to the ram today. All Kicker set up, front, rear and dash corners were all upgraded from stock to Kicker. This truly isn’t a how to, just making this video in case someone with the same truck is wanting to do a speaker upgrade. These steps are pretty much the same for all 4th gen 1500, 2500 and 3500.

These are ok they have a nice bass but as far as loudness I took these out and went with infinity and they dont have too much bass its just enough but the sound quality is perfect and super loud

Mini pocket screwdriver or a set of mini picks like from harbor freight would help you get the factory clips moved out of the connection at the speaker

6x9's are not showing up for rear doors on Crutchfield, that's what you used on the rear?

Crutchfield tells you 6x9 doesn’t fit but 6x9 comes out. You just need a spacer to put an aftermarket 6x9 in

I’m trying to replace the front door speaker with kicker ds but I found ds is thicker than the original one. Is there anyway to solve it?

I’m not too sure. I opted for the 6.5 inch speaker rather than the 6x9 for the front.

Kicker CS series 6x9s will fit in the rear doors but not the front. KS series are a little thinner and I was told they would fit. But I would buy a set of spacers for the front door regardless. I think you would only need a 1/4 inch spacer. I went with a set of Pioneer 6x9s in the front and the Kicker CS 6x9s in the rear. CS series definitely do not fit in the front doors and I could not find a spacer locally. Already had the truck torn apart so went with the Pioneers. Have not upgraded the speakers in the dash yet, not sure it is worth it, already sounds 1000s better than the cheap factory speakers.

Pro tip - when you pull the door panels, remove the rubber boot around the door lock stem that pops up as well as the window up down switch before pulling the panel. The window up down switch will just pop out and that gives you easier access to unplug it (and plug it back in when you re-assemble. Also, the bezel/trim around the door handle should be removed. That makes it a lot easier to put the door panel back on. So my procedure is: Remove upper trim piece that covers the inside of the rear door pillar (just pops off) remove boot around door lock stem, remove switch and unplug the connector, remove the plate/screw cover inside the door handle to access the screw and the the trim piece around the door handle (just pops out) remove plastic screws around outside of door panel, then lift the panel straight up and remove.

What year is your truck? Just trying to decide which speakers to get, and if they will be louder, with or without more clarity, with or without changing receiver.

It’s a 2012 Tradesman. I didn’t change my head unit and they’re loud and clear. Not crazy bass though

I still really enjoy them, totally worth it. Honestly if your budget allows you, I don’t see why not. The sky is the limit with car audio

I think it’s the same as the 4 doors for the front door but I’m not sure. I know the door panels are the same so try opening them up and seeing if the speaker is the same

Tbh I’m not too sure, I think the magnet on those speakers are too big to fit a 6x9. I just went off Cruthfields website recommendation

@@RobOutdoors623 just got done installing all 4 doors with 6x9’s, all fit like a dream! I used the KS series 6x9’s from kicker, magnet was definitely larger than the stock, but it fit just fine 👍 thanks again for the detailed vid

Did you have to add a resistor to change the speaker impedance from 4ohm to 8ohm? I see someone mentioning having to do this in another review cuz the tweeter was screaming

He failed to say the reason he didn't put 6x9 in the fron its cause the magnet its too big and there's a bar that runs across the back of the speaker housing and won't fit 6x9 that's why he bought the smaller ones with the fitting plastic.
