Yes they are all coloured, so they work great for clear housings.

The small front indicator housings usually won't fit the same bulb as the rear, but do have the right bulb for your front. We sell indicator kits in three versions to account for the different from indicator styles over the years, so you would want the Type I if you have the standard housings up front.

@@Stevestonmotorco Are your Type 1s a "switchback" type which also operate the clear parking lights/sidelights? My Mk1 is a CKD export model, so the front parking lights/sidelights are actually inside the indicator housing rather than the headlamps - at the moment it's pretty unsafe because with a clear bulb and clear lenses, when you indicate at night with the parking lights already on, you can barely tell the difference when the indicators are on because they don't turn orange, but rather just get *slightly* brighter when flashing. Would love to be able to fit some bulbs which operate the white side lights but also switch to orange for the indicators, maybe these LEDs could be a good solution if that would work! Cheers

Hi Jack, the Type 1 is indeed a dual circuit and will be the driving light as well as the indicator. But the colour would be amber for both. The difference between indicating and steady driving light is quite clear because of the brightness.

I imagine the difference in brightness will be much better with proper LEDs than with the rubbish old incandescent bulbs of the '60s, so definitely something I'll have to consider. Especially after getting rear-ended today in my '91 Mini... maybe they'd have noticed I was braking if I had brighter bulbs :(

Same in the UK, although they're mostly concerned with the headlights as they can dazzle

@@rob_lightbody they published an update to the classic car HID/LED headlight bulb upgrade directive in March last year. Basically any car prior to '86 is exempt from the changes brought in from Jan '21.
