This is the way I would always like to ride. But to be honest if I would do only rides like that - I would ride much less than I do today.
That's exactly the reason why this Thule Chariot one of the best cycling accessories I have ever got. But it is not good for every situation. And that's why I was looking for something else until I found this.
This is a tube that connects my bike to kids bike. It lift's up the front wheel of the kids bike and we can ride like a train. We have had so much fun to ride together with this.
The installation may be a bit tricky and here's how I did it. The name of this tube is Trailgator.
First I had to figure out a proper size of shim and then install the receiver to the seatpost.
The bolts need to be tight and the seatpost clamp needs to be also really tight, so that the tube does not rotate the seatpost. There's a lot of torque from the kids bike due to the length of the tube.
Then I attached the mount to the kids bike. There are several ways you can mount the hooks and this is how it fit to our bike. I mounted this small part to fork tube. There's a pole that connects to this part and it keeps the front wheel pointed forward.
Then it was time to connect the bikes and check the tightness of all the bolts. And then everything was ready for the first test ride.
We faced one problem. I had to tighten the bolts of the receiver on the kids bike much much more. This receiver will damage the paint of the bike, but you want to make sure that the bolts are really tight.
However the paint damage does not matter so much because kids bikes are not so expensive.
I would also like to see a more elegant receiver on my bike. This is hanging from the seatpost when the tube is not in use and I don't like that.
But all in all more riding is always better and we have had so much fun riding together. So this is definitely worth it.
