How To Install Trail Edition Grille & TSS on the 3rd Gen Tacoma 16-22

Күн бұрынWe go over all the steps from start to finish of how to install the SR5 Trail Edition grille on our project Tacoma. These instructions can be used for the PRO grille as well. Part numbers, tools needed and TSS transfer procedures are covered as well. Come join along as we change out the stock grille for a nicer OEM one.

Well done! Glad I watched this. The previous video I watched the guy completely cut the wire clips like they were a zip tie. I didn't realize you could just pop them out the way you showed. Good work. Truck looks great btw!

Should get clear protective film on the face of that sensor plate, to protect from rock chips, etc..

Good video- I bought the oem grill and garnish and just switched out the grill on my 2023 off road. The off-road grill attached to the surround with (8) pan head screws but the oem trail edition grill had no place for these screws- so it’s basically clipped in place- weird

Got the same grill and also got the oem garnish sensor and omg its alittle pricey! U got it for a pretty good deal. I paid 250 for the grill and 350 for that garnish sensor cover, not sure why its so expensive its jus a cover

It’s Toyotas way of trying to keep the Pro/Trail edition grilles off the non-PRO trucks. Ford did the same with the ‘15+ Mustang. Shelby steering wheels were $192, then Ford doubled the price to $400 within a few months.

Is the garnish plate Black on black? The aftermarket ones are like silver and black and they look bad on these pro grills and trail edition grills

black background with a faint grey image to replicate the grille pattern. Most aftermarket is a bright silver printed pattern.

Anyone know the part number for the metal nuts at 8:35, or where to find them? Long story short the previous owner of my truck bought a grille that doesn’t support the TSS sensor and so they threw the nuts out and zip tied the sensor to the grille. I just replaced the grille but had to use a single random screw I found which isn’t ideal. Having trouble finding these pieces online.

Did you calibrate the sensor with your stock height?

No - the TSS sensor gets moved downwards from the stock Sport/Off-Road grille location so it worked out perfectly.

Sadly its a separate piece along with the push in retainer clips.

Did your grill have the TOYOTA letters already installed ?

Yes - only had to install the TSS garnish plate on and swap over the grille surround from the truck.

Toyota should be ashamed of themselves charging as much as $450 dollars for that little TSS cover. That is extreme price gouging.

It's literally the same thing as the pro grille other than the color of the letters !
