Cost of 10' t posts, 4.8' nonclimb panels, barbed wire, hired help to put this all up (for deer), cost of fertilizer, coddling moth solution, water water water....I should have just bought the blasted fruit from a local grower, Honestly now this netting material while wonderful will be more cost.

Can I use netting under a large conifer tree that overshadows part of my patio and is forever shedding needles ? I have a blower but I have to use that every other day and on a windy day they get everywhere The net would be fixed to the branches underneath?

It seems like this work quite well. We've never tried the netting in this kind of an application though, so we can't verify its effectiveness.

Where can you buy that finer mesh netting? I'd love to get a net I can reuse that doesn't get torn up every time we take it off and work out all the snags on small branches.

With 1/4" mesh, this netting will not stop fruit flies from getting at your cherries, which results in wormy cherries. My mother-in-law found a lady who started making a finer mesh to block the fruit flies and swears by it. Check out Kootenaycovers.com for a finer mesh.

Should you wait until the fruit has been pollinated before covering it

If you can see actual fruit it has already been pollinated, that happens at the blossom stage. You don't need to cover until the fruit is nearly grown. Birds don't like completely unripe fruit any more than we do, though they will eat before we think it fully ripe

"large Tree is just 12-15 feet high with top branches are 4-6 feet from the base means they are capable of bending ! Show how a tree whose neck is say 25 feet high, and without any Ladders!!

Think I'm just going to net a few of the lower branches, as mine is also 25t plus? I don't mind sharing the cherries, but I do resent the birds taking ALL the fruit, after I planted and nurtured the tree, and they just turn up and pinch it at early dawn on the morning I would have picked it!

Does enough sun get through to ripen the cherries. Moisture will be trapped , fruit will rot

Try that with a large citrus tree with spikes and see how it works.

I have NEVER had any problems with birds in my lemon or orange trees...so why bother using net on citrus?

I'm just trying to prevent A billion cherry falling in my backyard and rotting and being tracked in on my kids feet all summer, I have come to absolutely hate cherrys

Hi Fred- you can buy the netting here: www.gurneys.com/product/bird-nettings. It's a slightly different version than what's shown in the video, but after we tested several types of netting, we found we actually prefer the premium bird netting over other types.
