Each stage of installing our vegetable garden has been an adventure. In this video, we show how we installed the layer of weed barrier and paver base in preparation for the brick boxes and gravel pathways.

Your video is the only one that comes up when I search weed fabric and paver base. It's exactly what I want to do for under a pergola. It's the easiest simplest solution I think. I read that gravel should go under it but I'd rather skip that since I'm not doing pavers. I am curious how yours is holding up.

80 bags? Why wouldn’t you order two yards of base from a material place?

That would have been the logical course of action. Had I to do it again, that would be the start. We do have some challenges with where we live dumping material on the street or drive way. But hey, live and learn.

I live in Florida..I put that weed barrier all under my raised garden beds..I tried what everyone said, to clear out the grass and just place on top..there was soooo much grass up through the beds. I had to take all that dirt out and re do it all. It sucked. Took over 2 months.

That sounds awful. We are about to take the next step with the beds and the fabric barrier. Fingers crossed.

Bro... You can push those landscape staples in with your hands if you had gloves. (Man up) gardening gloves. And a straight edge box cutter razor blades cuts the weed barrier much faster much easier effortless than a pair of scissors. SMH.

Doh! a box cutter would have been perfect. As far as the staples, even with the hammer, I bent more than one trying to get it in the ground

Fabric goes under the base material and only if it is a wet area ... thats wrong 😕

Don't think I'm understanding the comment. We certainly wouldn't suggest putting weed barrier in mud or swampy areas. This area does get rain, but it is not a naturally wet area.
