We do a DIY garage door insulation using R-Tech 8'x4', 1-inch thick foam board (R-3.85) with radiant barrier plus we add some bubble wrap barrier to increase the R-value and provide more radiant barrier on inside. This option is about the same cost as the white foam kits sold at Lowes or Home Depot. If you don't do the bubble wrap, it will be half the price. The foam kits are 1/4-inch thicker (R-4.8) but DOESN'T have a radiant barrier. Though radiant barrier doesn't add "R-value" it does add to the effective insulation and reduction in heat gain.
Each single car section needs two (8'x4') foam boards. So I used 6 for three car garage. I used two rolls of the Double reflective bubble radiant barrier, with 10-ft left over. This combo is much cheaper than the kits for both the foam and the precut Reach Barrier.

48 in. x 25 ft. Double Reflective Insulation (~$45/ea) homedepot.sjv.io/yRLxxW
Other more expensive "Garage Insulation Kits", I don't recommend since its more cost for same results (less some cutting).
