Aspen Plus, and other process modelling tools, are absolutely powerful when it comes to performing mass and energy balances.
But sometimes, you may want to do extra calculations that the software doesn't perform.
This can include calculation of process efficiency, yield, economics or even life-cycle emissions.
You can use alternative tools and develop your own spreadsheets. But in that case, you may need to manually copy-paste data to perform sensitivity analysis or assess process performance under different conditions.
Integrating Aspen Plus with Microsoft Excel can save you this struggle and some precious time during your project.

There is also an alternative option to integrate MS Excel and Aspen Plus via Aspen Simulation Workbook, which allows you to integrate several simulation files in a single MS Excel spreadsheet and run the simulation directly from Excel.
