Very insightful! Be reflective and remember you are interviewing for entry level leadership within the district, so you need to think outside of the classroom and not give the impression that you already "know it all". Remember be honest and truthful. Don't lie or exaggerate.

Dear Kathleen, I have watched your videos and have had 18 admin interviews this summer and fall and have not made it to the second round - I feel like I have answered the questions well , but maybe I am talking too much? Can you give some advice. They usually ask 8 prescribed questions and give you 3 minutes to respond to each one - they are timed.

While it's essential to provide comprehensive answers, consider focusing on key points within the given time frame. Practice concise responses that highlight your strengths and experiences. I just got my leadership certificate and am considering apply for any opening I will find. School leadership is a complex domain and hiring teams have their sets of criteria equally complex. Awareness and personal experiences are key to success. Thank you for your videos, they are helpful.

Loving the content and continue to discover valuable nuggets for my interview prep. I’m interviewing for the position of Principal at a school I’m very familiar with and wanted to know if it’s appropriate to develop a 30/60/90 day plan and have it ready to share? If not the first interview, what about for round 2?

I have an interview for an assistant principal position. It is 30 minutes. ALL of my interviews in the education field have been over an hour. They have about 10 30-minute interview blocks in one day. What should I expect?

Expect the questions to be focused and direct, likely targeting key aspects of educational leadership, management, and your vision for the role. Prepare to succinctly highlight your experiences, accomplishments, and how they align with the assistant principal position. Be ready to articulate your leadership style, approach to problem-solving, and your vision for the school community. Since time is limited, make sure your responses are clear, concise, and impactful. @@KathleenJasperEdD Thanks! I ended up not doing it and moving into the second round of interviews wahooo! I'm in a unique situation because I'm interviewing with my same school. The first round was the principal and associates, but tomorrow I'm going in with the entire A Team, 11 AP's to be more specific. If I was nervous the first round, I think I'm going to have a heart attack this second round. Do you have any specific recommendations? Are they going to ask the same things? Should I be prepared for an extra surprise?!
