Out of my personal experience, I find that being able to integrate yourself into a team and to be an influencer having good social communications/emotional intelligence is also a challenge and not less important than to have a diploma. I worked hard on my study to become a nurse. I am struggling now to integrate myself in team on hospital. I am searching for every single tips which can help me to change my mindset. It is a crucial part of one career. Thanks Adriana!

@@AdrianaGirdler I had been for long time not assertive. The time when I did want to be assertive had problems specially with closed mind people. I am grateful to colleges who had me always encourage to integrate meslf in team. I realise that I had to be more clever dealing with problematic situations. I have trust when it comes to changing mindset and be more clever in teamwork because its crucial if I want te be a professional nursing(learning from other colleges weather I like teamwork or not!

Simple and informative! I liked how you emphasized on "tell us about yourself" part which is usually taken lightly because it is very common question. As a communicator, I believe if this question is taken care of properly, you'll receive attention and you'll gain control over the rest of the interview/introduction.

Thank you. I will be starting a role that entails me going to different projects around the world, in which my true purpose is to shake things up, and come up with new ideas at projects where growth has been stagnant, or need help. I need to present myself not as a corporate spy, a consultant or a tourist from corporate office, but as a part of their team. When applicable I would be making technical suggestions to test new concepts, which I would lead and leave with the team on the ground to bring to fruition. I can see it as a delicate situation because I will have weeks at a time to build relations, but also I need people to share their honest thoughts about their projects or productive disagreement during that short time, instead of rejecting me. And finally I need them to like me enough and value my contribution enough to have me back. Any advice?

Hi Adriana, thanks for some great tips on introducing myself to the new team. Am to lead a new team in next couple of weeks, and with the continuing safety challenges of COVID, meeting in person is still a distant possibility. In the immediate frame, I'll need to write an introductory email and then plan to follow it up with a one on one call via teams video. Since I have been in this company for many years, and the team members some that i have known previously though not entirely well, was wondering if you have any additional tips for email intro.

Hi Sarita...congrats on leading a new team, how exciting. Keep your email short and sweet as you plan on doing one on one calls. Because some people know you a suggestion is to say in your email....Welcome everyone. I am excited to be your team lead (insert your official title). Some of you know me from past project but for those that don’t......(insert your intro here) and don’t forget to let them know you will set up one on one calls. Hope this helps. Hi, I'm starting a new job with a new company in a few days as a store leader. Talking to my manager he said be prepared for a difficult conversation as there are 3 people in your team who have worked with the company I'm joining for a long time that also applied for the position. How would I go about having these difficult conversations with colleagues who did not get the position applied for and are unhappy that someone externally outside the company got the position? Thanks.
@AdrianaGirdler
@AdrianaGirdler 3 жыл бұрын
First I would like to congratulate you on your new job! Being in a leadership role will always require you to address difficult situations. I would suggest that you speak to your manager and ask them to send out a welcome to the team to introduce you. From there you can have a welcome meeting and during that meeting set up your expectations and cement your authority in a respectful and positive way. You will have team members that will be upset they did not get the position. Don't ignore this but get to know them and set them up for success. Hope this helps. Wishing you all the best, cheers!

Could you suggest any books to get the self confidence going during meeting...I am good at one on ine meeting but I do have stage fear facing people...because of which I stay calm during meetings
@AdrianaGirdler
@AdrianaGirdler 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rajashekhar, thanks for your question. I don't have a suggestion for a specific book regarding confidence. There are lots out there so I recommend you find a couple and see which one you resonate with. What I can say is confidence comes when you feel prepared, so study the subject matter so you can answer questions properly. Also, I recommend you do some inward reflection. Sometimes the self talk in our head can make us feel inadequate and we lose confidence. A book I recommend for inward reflection is Michael Singer's The Untethered Soul. A lot of people's confidence issues are truly link to deeper emotional items. Deal with this and I promise you will see your confidence rise. I hope this helps. This is what helped me....now I am working on my stagefright for when I play guitar in front of people. I can talk in front of 100's of people with no issue but I have a hard time picking up my guitar and singing for just a few people. I force myself to do it. Once you learn techniques to help your confidence, you then have to practice, practice, practice!!!!

Hi Miao, if you feel like you didn’t introduce yourself the way you had hoped you can always send a follow up email to the project team. A nice meeting everyone and you can add a few things in that you would have liked to say during your first intro. Best of luck on your new project. Cheers!

Thanks for the video Adriana! But what should I do if Im new and the team I need to work with is all remote and also they dont appear to be much open to make the first move in connecting with me? Should I request a Skype call with them? Any advice is highly appreciated.
@AdrianaGirdler
@AdrianaGirdler 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Fausto. First question...does this team report into you or are they your colleagues? This will determine approach. If they report into you call a full team meeting via Skype and introduce yourself, what you plan on doing the next 30 days in your new role and your expectations. Don’t forget to ask them about their expectations too. If they are your colleagues, reach out to them individually via Skype to say hi and ask them what advice they have for you being new to the role. This is a great way to meet everyone and understand a little of their personality. It will be interesting to see how each person responds. Hope this helps....Cheers!

@AdrianaGirdler
@AdrianaGirdler 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, these are definitely different times for everyone, especially those starting a new job and finding themselves working remotely. Don't be afraid to reach out to your team members virtually outside of scheduled meetings. You can still take the time to get to know them, it's just not as easy as being face to face. I think we are all learning as we go these days. Hopefully your management has taken the time to do some virtual team building as this is a great way for new team members to introduce themselves and get to know others. Thanks for watching and stay well! Cheers!
