Lately I've been considering setting up an investment account for retirement, I have set asides $400k but somewhere along the line, I get cold feet maybe because I'm a rookie and have no idea what I'm doing, please I could really use some guidelines.

If you are new to the markets, I'd advise you get some kind advise or assistance from a financial consultant or Investment coach. That’s the most ideal way to jump into the market in these uncertain times.

@@martingraham3231 I agree with this, Investment coaching sounds like a great idea, thought about it before but never knew how to go about it, Have you used a coach? what is the experience like?

@@ethanwilson6476 can’t disclose too much , but yea I’ve been using a coach since March 2020, growing my portfolio from $275k to $700k approx. It is pretty straightforward, not as complicated as it used to be.

I just ordered your book. But I hated the up sale. Way too much. If I had known, then I would not have bothered. I hope the book is worth it and just not another attempt to sell me more.

It seems you are speaking about an IUL. You speak of funding over 5 years, but what about the 7 year rule to avoid it becoming MEC? There are still policy premiums paid over many years before fully funded and fees, which are front loaded based on the cash value, correct? Wouldn't that create a cash value below the initial investment? I am anticipating quite a bit of $ coming my way within the next year, so I trying to figure what to do. I have been reading a bit about IULs. Is this what you're discussing? What have misunderstood? Thanks for the help.

great information Doug but Is there a way to move 500k from a traditional 401k for someone over 55 to a laser fund without major tax implications
@missedfortune
@missedfortune 2 жыл бұрын
If you've deferred taxes in a traditional account, taxes are almost always required. It's recommend you speak with a savvy CPA to see if there's anything in your particular set of circumstances that might allow for any tax breaks. Proceeds going into an insurance contract or any other tax-free strategy should be post-tax dollars.

Confused when you say it's "tax free" - is it not taxed as personal income?
@missedfortune
@missedfortune Жыл бұрын
If you access money from your policy to smart way, under IRC section 7702, its completely tax free because it's not taxes as earned, passive, or portfolio income.

I prefer IRAs and have two paid off properties. One u live in it the other to be rented out . Maybe even a nice duplex plus a sSFH . That way u r contributing to ur roth and have cash flow plus u don’t have a mortgage. The stock market and lumb sum of 500k is scary and not tangible. But still work bcs u should be able to manage one property. Maybe work less . I’m not sure how anyone can handle a 30 percent drop all of a sudden and even though it will come back up but the psychology behind it losing so much for a year or two is tough to handle
