Yes exactly my mom bless her heart both my parents don’t have much patience and she use to make us iron my dads shirts but I wasn’t so good so she’d move me out of the way and say, “if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself” and finish the shirt off 😏 instead of being patient and helping me learn.. so I never learned. Loving his videos

Too true. When I was a teen I wanted to get into photography. When I told my aunt she went on and on about how great of a professional free lance photographer she used to be. Self taught too blah blah blah. So I asked her to teach me some stuff, whatever she knew. She told me to just go take a class at the local community college. 🙄 Like..hey stupid..I wanted to bond with *you*. I wanted the experience of someone in the family teaching me and sharing with me something they enjoy and we can enjoy together. And she just..told me to go take a class. I gave up on pursuing it. It just bummed me out and was yet another example of how no one in my family has any sense of heart and bonding for the sake of enjoying each other. Like quality time just isnt a thing in their minds, sadly.

I’m 27. Held many managerial jobs. Never ironed a shirt or learned to tie a tie. Got married a year ago, had to have my brother tie my tie. Hurt my ego a bit. This and his tie video will make me able to do my own at my sister-in-laws wedding in June! Way to go dad!

I’m not trying act “privileged”, but I have both parents home that could help me, but don’t. They have a tendency to be judgemental and aggravated when I admit I don’t know how to do something, so it’s hard to learn new things, so thank you for this! It’s nice to have a pleasant teacher ❤️

Parents should be teaching not judging!! If they’ve never taught you how to do something so basic they should just teach when you ask for help! I just bought my first home last year-there are so many small things that come up & I can call my dad and ask how do I fix this or can you help me fix it. He always explains what to do and if I can’t quite figure it out he’ll come over and show me how to do it. I’m incredibly blessed to have him & im so happy this man is doing it for millions of people who aren’t as privileged as myself. Also, I’m gonna keep coming back here so I don’t have to bug my dad so much 😂😂

Don't you sometime see a youtube video and feel that hey, this person, it'd be so awesom if I knew this person personally, such a cool person, I wish he was my neighbour, teacher, relative, friend, someone I could just say hi to, ask questions, maybe sometimes in a bluemoon be helpful to them in any way, that'd be so cool. One thing being done properly here that viewers might miss is to take the time to make sure the bit you’re about to iron is flat. Imagine that the iron doesn’t make your shirt flat, it just locks in the flatness you’ve created by carefully stretching it over the ironing board.

Hey check out John Gottman's parenting book, I think its called How to Raise an Emotionally Intelligent Child or something similar. Its not a long book but its got good information in it! He and his wife are the leading researchers of marriage counselors and also have great books om how to have happy successful marriages and dealing with arguments and stuff. Here's a tip:I grew up always using the highest setting on the iron for every fabric. The way I don't burn my clothes while doing this is by just laying out my article of clothing the way I want it (for the creases to be correct and whatnot), and then I lay a cotton bandana over it flat, and that is good enough to protect the fabric that I'm wearing from getting burnt, and then iron with firm pressure as usual. This has always produced the best creases for me, and I was never wrinkled because of it.

That's basics!"; Yeah but I'm asking, so why not just show me how it's done instead of whining even though you refused to teach me anything and saying "go away, I'll do it" even though I asked many times to learn. Unfortunately, my mom can be quite stubborn at times and has decided she won't be ironing anyone's clothes anymore plainly out of spite. When I asked her to teach me how she just said I'm on my own. For newbies, I would recommend facing the iron away from the shirt wherever you set it down. It can be very easy to graze the iron and accidentally singe your hand

I'm 13. Dad's in the military. Mom would leave really early to work, and go home very late. My siblings would often wear creased uniforms to school and I couldnt just stand that. Thanks for teaching me how to iron, now my siblings look really neat.

I feel so sorry for you and anyone in that situation. Trans-/homofobic or just ignorant in general... You are YOU! You MATTER!! You are loved even by one's you don't know and don't know you. Because we are all in this together and we are all a big family 🏳️‍🌈❤ I am genderfluid and pansexual and came out to my parents recently. They don't understand and don't really try to either... always been gifted pink, fluffy stuff, clothes and makeup even when I wished for games, "boy's toys", tools and technologic stuff... I'm 36 and my dad passed away 5 months ago. Our relationship used to be kind of distant when I was a kid and teenager, but fortunately, for the last 8 or 9 years we were very close and remain that way until the end. About 6 years ago, I ended up a 5-year-old relationship (I lived with her for 4 years) and went to live with my dad (my parents were divorced) for about 8 months until I went back on my feet. I don't know why, but one of the things I remember the most is my dad offering to help me out by ironing my dress shirts for the week while we chat about anything and laugh. This video just triggers so many feelings and memories... I miss him so much! I would give anything to see my dad ironing dress shirts again.

Great, Dad! What I do differently: 1/ Iron sleeves first 2/ Iron collar flat, front and rear (only fold after ironing, no pressing) 3/ I use spray starch (sparingly). Read this in an Ironrite manual: Dry ironing is good ironing (meaning ironing dampened clothes until they are dry).

I do have a dad. He's a good man, provides but still is completely flawed. I remember him cursing me for not knowing how to iron clothes as a kid. How am I supposed to know if no one's taught me? Developed a deep hatred for anything Laundry over the years. Forgiveness hasn't been easy. A daily choice nowadays too . The WD-40 put a smile on my face . 🙂 Thanks for helping heal my heart in this way ,didn't know I needed this . God bless you Man , Sir , Dad ... 🙂

My brother passed away from complications of diabetes, leaving behind two young sons who were just on the verge of needing to learn these things. Thank you for these amazing videos! I'm in tears because not alot of parents (mom or dads) take the time to show their children much of anything anymore.
