Dutch language students play broken telephone (Chinese whispers)
They need to pass on a joke in Dutch!

These videos were recorded with Dutch language students at the BLC Dutch Winter School.
Mistakes marked in the video:
We've chosen to mark small translation/grammar mistakes in red for educational purposes.
We haven't marked the mistakes/misunderstandings that are clear from the story.
We have deliberately chosen a very light red font, so as not to put too much stress on the mistakes,
because when you learn a language, you shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes!
Mistakes that were repeated many times:
- 'de' meisje - should be: 'het' meisje
- ze vraagt 'als' - should be: ze vraagt 'of'
Other mistakes/misunderstandings:
- 1:42 'blindedarm' is pronounced as 'blindarm', so the next couple understands 'spleen' (in Dutch 'milt')
- 1:58 'grote' (big) is misunderstood for 2:37 'gouden' (golden)
- 2:01 'Die' refers to 'het gebouw', because of 'het', you can't use 'die'. Correct: 'Dat gebouw!'
- 3:33 correct word order: '... of hij ziet dat ze een operatie had (gehad)'
- 3:34 'ze hebt' should be 'ze heeft', 'spleen' (see above), better: 'ze heeft/had haar blindedarm laten opereren'.
- 3:40, 5:05 'deze gebouw' should be 'dit gebouw' (because 'het' gebouw)
- 4:09 'de' grapje - should be 'het' grapje
- 4:32 'heb' should be: 'heeft'
- 5:07 'dak' (roof) became: 'doek' (cloth)
- 5:37 'voor een gebouw' became: 'vorige bouw' (sounds the same); 'bouw' is construction, but can also refer to the body
- 5:58 'was' should be: 'waren'
- 6:00 'waren in', better: 'hadden' (even though Anglicism), or just 'het was romantisch'.
- 6:36 'nieuwe' should be 'nieuw' (het-word after 'een')

Couple 1: Valentina + Andrew: level 3
Couple 2: Violetta: level 2 + Isabel: level 3
Couple 3: Marvin + Silke: level 2
Couple 4: Cynthia + Felipe: level R
Couple 5: Lucas + Laleh: level 2
Level descriptions:
Level 1 group (0 to A1), ±0-50 hours of Dutch class
Level 2 group (A1 to A2), ±50-100 hours of Dutch class
Level 3 group (from A2 to A2+), ±100-150 hours of Dutch class
Level 4 group (from A2+ to B1), ±150-250 hours of Dutch class
Level R group (B1/B2), 250+ hours of Dutch class
