This video will show a through jump start tutorial for BMW or any cars that has the battery in the trunk. They are quite similar since they will all have engine access point to the battery.

Thaaank you!! Helped me a lot! My mistake was I wanted ti contect it to my battery directly, and I found my battery in the back, but my plugs didnt fit, and then I saw this and it all made sense!

The batteries were placed in the trunk for a number of reasons including: heat kills batteries, batteries in front on collisions tend to rupture and cause fires. Just better and safer in the back.

So my battery is dead right now, as in completely dead. Nothing happens when I open my car and nothing lights up or reacts when I stick the key in. Can I follow the same process you showed here or would it be different considering the fact that my battery is dead dead?

By only allowing access to under the hood when battery is dead.....BMW is telling you NOT TO CHARGE AT BATTERY IN TRUNK. yOu will damage FRM or other modules doing so.

These BMWs takes a huge battery 700 CCA I think. For completely dead ones, you will need a pretty big jump starter. I remember I used two jump starters one time because it’s so hard to start…

Not bad, just that you lose a lot of welly in the wires. More bang for your buck if you connect under the hood.

might not be true but I heard you can fry your car if you try and jump it from the back. Something about sending the wrong voltage straight to the battery@@dougaltolan3017

Hi! I noticed on my BMWs starting with the x5 e53 up to the newer F series models, whenever I use a portable jump starter on a fully drained battery. The engine fires up no problem but after 5 secs it dies. Any thoughts on this sir?

Maybe the computer tries to protect the alternator? Or maybe the battery or alternator is completely toast and will not hold charge. Try charge it first for like 20 minutes than start it.

buy a ctek charger and let it charge and float your battery for a few days. it will tell you if your battery is shot.

Works with any car with battery in the back. Find the red cap for the positive and any bare metal for negative. The little negative port should be near the positive port.
