Sue cooks dinner for the children quite often during the week and she has done 99% of everything in the house from laundry to keeping everything as clean as possible while keeping everything going each day 365 days a year with very little help from the children. The girls do help out while most of the boys hardly do anything. So let’s not belittle how much Sue does each day around the house and for her children. She is the one who purchases all of the gifts for the family and plans each birthday, holiday and other celebrations throughout the year and she makes the weekly grocery shopping order online or goes to the store and shops for the groceries. Things are more staged and setup when they film for the channel 5 shows. The regular vlog videos are a more accurate representation of how they live and do things. I don’t like how this episode was filmed because it is so different from how they normally are day to day.

Same, my ex left mowing the lawn, checking mail, trash, dishes, laundry, cleaning, paying bills, all the childcare, taking care of his car and meds…. And i worked longer hours and made more money. He literally worked 8hrs and held the furniture down. Thats it!

Even if it’s everyone strips their bed and put new bedding on, everyone folds their own clothes, everyone scrapes their plates and put them in the dishwasher, that would make a big difference to mum and dad. Then everyone have their daily or weekly chore, whether it’s put the laundry on, clean the pots and pans, hoover a room etc. Of course the little ones may need help but that can be mum and dads chore, help the little ones, plus other jobs they don’t trust the kids with (I love the sound of Noel’s meals)

definitely, after the second time he erased his name he should have had some consequence. He acting up while doing the chore should have been dealt with immediately. He is a brat.

Diana Best-Hutchinson, you are 100% correct. We all had chores from a very young age as did my son. He and his wife have four children, so far, and only the baby doesn't have chores. Even the four year old can load the dishwasher. I love the Radfords very much but have always been aware that Sue is killing herself with all the housework. Oh. And the boys all need to learn every housekeeping chore also. They are all part of the family and as a family member, you are responsible to help in the upkeep.

I've got 3 children who are all now in their late 20s/ early 30s and we started giving them chores in return for pocket money from the age of 5. They're all now holding down full time jobs and understand the value of working to get what they want in life.

Nah, punishment for expressing he felt it was daunting and overwhelming to go from having no chores to have to tidy up after himself and his 17 siblings and parents. It’s a big ask of a middle school child. I like that they didn’t tell him off, but reminded him of having to help out and encouraged him when he got started and celebrated him when he eventually had done it. One thing that could have made it easier is to have spoken to him what he felt in the moment and venture into why he didn’t want to do it. By doing so it would most likely have ended up being less daunting. Even as an adult, I would find it a bit tough to tidy up after so many people on the daily/weekly. It’s important to remember that children also need time to process things and can’t be expected to simply obey. Why feel the need to punish a child for being a child, when you as an adult can take the time to help them get through their emotions?! Your suggestion is just to give you as an adult a pleasure release, by punishing the child instead of helping them to learn something new. I say it in this way because I have studied child psycholgy at uni., while you come to the situation by being emotional and going off on ancient child rearing ideas that are based in punishment.

reduce the stuff you have by donating what you want and keep what you just need! Clothes, Dishes, Toys etc.. knowing that more stuff won't makes you more satisfied and happy.

The idea that working some hours a day outside of the home would grant you to not lift a finger in the home is such a rubbish mindset! By not getting each child to pull their weight they are not being taught how to cope for later. By 14 mine were cooking for themselves, doing their own washing and keeping their own areas clean as well as being expected to do certain jobs in the house. I’d sometimes get surprised with a clean house when I walked in the door and I’d sometimes come home and find the chores not done. When they turned 16 we were on full house share status. They were in 6th form and also working part time. We were working full time. They needed to learn because they would soon be in university and have their own places. We also had various other teenagers come through our doors and leave after a certain period of time, sometimes weeks, the longest several years and at the end our youngest daughters boyfriend lives with us. We needed a tight ship and so did the Radford’s. I’ve watched the show where one of the girls left home for a night or two to see if she could live on her own and had no food then couldn’t cook. Mine were taught to cook slowly from young. Not by forced lessons but by sitting in the kitchen with me, watching, asking questions then deciding to make fun and easy things on their own like no cook cheesecake. You really don’t do your kids any favours by not teaching them how to be independent. My last two (twins) left home last September aged 19. They are both living with their partners (one is engaged). They are both fine and able to work, study, cook, clean, budget and stand away from the supermarket shelf to assess the bargains and look at the cost per 100g etc.

You can’t wait until they are teenagers to make them do chores turned out amazing? The boys disrespect their parents.

​@@NailHeavenAshfordIt's one thing to teach your kids how to cook and clean and then there is making them act grown. Sounds like you make them do your job. My kids clean their rooms and bathroom, and make their lunch(except for my 6yrold) but everything else I do. I let them be kids. Yes, they have chores(dishes, vacuuming, living room-if they made it dirty) they know how to balance money, cook food etc. But I don't make them do the deep cleaning etc..

You literally see a few seconds in a clip. You don’t know if they disciplined him or not. Some parents wouldn’t even take that seriously. I also see ADHD traits in Max that I have. I don’t know if I’m correct but sometimes we need to go a bit easier on people, especially children. Lighten up ✌🏼 they’re an amazing family & brilliant parents

Tbh, this looks like it's all staged. I'm sure Sue and Noel know perfectly well when to discipline their children and from their own, more authentic, vlogs I take that Max is actually a really fine kid, so this might have been intended by the camera team or his autism or just him being a perfectly normal 12 year old 😉
