It’s funny… mentally/emotionally I have no problem with a messy house. But PHYSICALLY I feel so much better with a clean house. When the house is dirty and dusty, I sneeze, have allergies, and feel sicker than if it’s clean

My husband lovingly told me this wisdom about 10 years ago when I was the frantic morning mom who made everyone frantic and couldn’t find shoes! 😂 Sadly, it took me a few more years til I got that lightbulb moment. I was always wanting to do projects to update the decor but not actually keep it organized and clean. I’m very grateful I finally got it! It’s a joy to be a mother to 5 kids and be married to a man who loves me through all my faults.💕

Hi Melissa I love your “epiphany” about cleaning and organizing your house first and foremost for YOU and your loved ones! One can be more inviting, hospitable, and spontaneous when they live in and run a clean and tidy house. Modeling this concept to your family will prepare your children for adulthood! I would train everyone in your family to “leave NO footprints” (no evidence of them messing up the clean spaces that you have worked hard to create and maintain!) A good houseguest always does this! They clean up after themselves and they don’t leave messes for the host/hostess to find! Many parents are doing themselves and the world a disservice by not training their children to become neat, tidy, and CONSIDERATE!

Man, 40 years old. I have found your channel just today, I was searching for "get your house clean and organized". I literally had tears in my eyes when you started talking about the "who am I cleaning for" bit, it enlightens me about my relationship with self. And, the fact that you wanted so much that your loved ones have a safe haven in your home, made me more emotional because I hadn't had a mother like you, it made me see a hole in my soul which was hidden before. Thank you, madam, I subscribed.

you remind my of a story regarding grown children who donated everything from their mother's house, the house they grew up in. I wondered why, they said all the beautiful dinnerware, table linens, best linens and towels were SAVED for special guest. In otherwords, they were not considered the special guest in their own childhood home. What ended up happening is, there were no fond memories that had been established through the everyday use of these those items, sad really! I never forgot that, and use my dinnerware for the guests that matter most; myself, and my family. Yes, even when I'm dining alone I will still put a place setting to create the gift of the food that I have prepared that inturn sustains me. I reflect on all the hands and steps it took to get it to the market before we purchased it, and I make my meal. For that I am thankful! Thank you for sharing your story.

I searched for motivational videos to help me get organized-help me to want to maintain my home-there was always an excuse for me- I’m in my 60’s -it was always, oh my hips hurt, or I’m too tired etc…and now I have an overwhelming home that I am playing catch up with- I can “so” relate to “someone is coming over, so let’s tidy up for them” but to your point- and a light went on in my head-who are we cleaning for? I also related when you said cleaning and organizing affects us in every way… it can totally ruin my day when I can’t find something because my house is in such a disarray, I am moody because I am overwhelmed… etc… Thank you for this video. It’s the first one that has really hit home opened my eyes and got me moving, aching hips and all 😊

This video showed up in my recommendations today and i just had to subscribe after watching!! I had this exact revelation a few months ago!! I wasted so much time in reactionary mode throughout my kids childhood and I regret so much of it. I was blessed with an amazing husband who made it possible for me to stay home with the kids, and now that they have almost all moved out, I was searching for a new calling. The thought settled on me “make your home a haven”. For your husband, who works in the ER, he takes care of you, take care of him. So that’s what I’ve been working towards. Making a haven, not just for him, but for me as well. For our children also, even if they don’t live here, but so they feel it when they visit, and they feel it in their parents.

What helps me keep my house clean is to think of doing everything while it's easy. It's easy to run a load of laundry big enough to fill a pillow case than a load 5 feet tall. It's easier to wash 10 dishes than a sink full of dishes like a restaurant. Do everything while it's small and easy. Only takes a few minutes.

I also hate clutter and dirty floor, food drops on the countertop, but I rather have a home then a house. There is a difference between a lived in home and a messy home. My husband doesn't want the kitchen counter to have anything on it. I keep reminding him that we are living here, all the furnitures, stove, countertop are here to serve us. Not the other way around. We need to keep our home clean for ourselves, to keep germs away, to keep furniture last longer.

I love that you are making homemaking be so valuable. I have always felt these sediments. Where I struggle is in social settings. My husband is also in Health Care Admin. Radiation Oncology division often at work functions I attend with him , It’s seems as though I’m ignored or spoken to in a condescending manor. I should have thicker skin at 52 but still kinda feel awkward given his position in the organization. I’d love to know how you address these kind of sometimes uncomfortable situations. Bottom line I love being a homemaker this is how my husband can be his very best he has no worries on the home front. Thank for sharing your life I’m learning lots from you.

I am still so focused on outside and the typical jobs that I used to do while working and just playing with the kids constantly and taking them on adventures. But I notice that my wife is so different with a clean home compared to a messy one. I don't think you pick up your house for family members and other people. Let's be real. I think you do it for YOU and that's okay if it makes you a better parent, spouse, etc. I'm similar to you - I keep a very tidy house but I acknowledge that I do it for ME. It makes ME feel better, efficient and organized. Most kids don't really care. They would much rather spend time with you than watch mom clean AGAIN. You're very talented and have lots of great tips.

@@paulamyers103 Everything in moderation is the key to life. I think she's great and love her videos! Please acknowledge though that if you're consumed with what to organize, how to clean, ways to decorate, ways to rearrange furniture, etc .... it's not really about the children. It's about YOU. Which is perfectly fine and great if it makes YOU feel great. Order in which a tidy home is appreciated 1) The person doing the cleaning 2) Others

I had this thought recently...well, a few years ago, but it really hit me recently. I thought, why am I cleaning up for everyone else (if my father visits, or brother, etc.) and not for me? Why did I decide that I don't matter? I DO matter, just as much as everyone else, and I don't like living in chaos. Right now, I am in a chaotic home, and it does reflect how it's been for me internally for a long time...but I am not in that chaotic place in my life anymore, and it's been years since...but I guess I got used to chaos. However, my mental health, my own feelings of rest are important. I thought today that I have a very stressful job and I'm also caring for my elderly father (who lives across the street) and as much as I love him, it's stressful and then I come home to a completely overwhelmingly messy house. There's no place that's peaceful for me. I need my home to be clean and peaceful for my own sake. Your video has really help solidify that thought. Thank you.

I can completely relate to what you are saying. I just recently left my job and this is the first time in 6 years that I haven't had a job outside the home. This is now my job, being a homemaker and I want to do it right. I really think in order to be on track with this lifestyle it is a mindset shift and you want to be able to help yourself and the others in your home so they don't have to worry about cleaning when they work for 8 or more hours outside the home each day.

I just found your channel and I’m definitely subbing. I’m sober for the first time in over 10 years and I’m pregnant ., I have this need and want to make up for lost time when it comes to being an actual adult. Cleaning my house almost daily has been a huge part of keeping me distracted and busy and feeling good - I’m looking forward to watching your videos for tips and tricks 🙂

Thank you for this video!! You have inspired me to look at things differently.. Even at my age, (and as a grandmother) I admit that I don't have it all together, and I'm sure my loved ones have suffered from it...I am looking forward to watching and being encouraged by the rest of your videos and sharing them with others. You are my new best friend! :)

It's easy for stay at home mom's to keep a clean home 24/7. But for single parents who works real jobs with real careers and very small children, it's a lot more difficult.

I know just dont let sticky things like, grease, trash, and old food get on any thing but the sink shower, bath tub and trash can What else is you should also make sure to wipe down on the furniture with antibacterial wipes, vacuum the floor chairs and couch and use windex to wipe down and clean the windows.
