I have a brother embroidery machine that I took to the sewing retreats. I was embarrassed at how much noise it created vs the other machines. I got the madam sewing pad and it cut the nose down so much. Thank you so much for the learning videos. I went to a quilting class 2 days ago and talked about you. I even showed the ladies and teacher the technique you showed on pressing with the pen solution. ❤

I have a piece of padded rubber backed drawer liner that I keep in my cart for taking to classes and it works great. I recently signed up for my first retreat this fall and decided I also wanted a mat to store things in since I know that space will be limited. I made my padded mat and then sewed my drawer liner to the back of it to make sure it didn't go anywhere. I also really think that having the apron part full of tools helps it stay in place.

I like your independent reviews for solutions to common sewing issues using a scientific method. The portable tables do tend to bounce and I found the best place to place the sewing machine is closer to one end of the table to reduce vibrations. Now I have tested data for even more improvements. And, I happen to have that same exact machine for close to 25 years and love it. It is well traveled and used. And routinely serviced. Thanks for the well done video.

A nonslip option is something called Dicem. It comes on a roll and resembles a shelf liner, but it has more tack. I got some from my occupational therapist to help me with gripping things and preventing things from sliding. I happened to put my sewing machine on top of it when I was doing a large project at my kitchen table, and I was really impressed that even after hours and hours of sewing machine was exactly where I put it.

Nice efforis for testing. 👌👏 I use bath mat under my machine. Its non-slippery texture prevented the movement and the padded carpet surface shielded the noise. The tenant downstairs didn’t complain.

I have a Sew Mat I purchased from Sewing Machine Plus and for another machine I found a rubber mat for standing on at Bed Bath and beyond for $8. Both do the job and don't move on my folding tables. I don't have any vibration when sewing fast. Years ago we bought that rubber shelf liner and set the machine on that. Amazing how we quilters tried everything to stop the movement of the machines.

I think you should try other options such as the thick rubbery shelf liner that quilters cut to size to keep their foot pedals from sliding away. Also try sad that is made from quilted soft and stable. I did not think any thing used had much change on the sound level.

@@joyfulandmerryquilting thank you so very much for the link. However, my question was about the apron that you sit underneath your sewing machine to hold your tools. I watched your video on how to have your sewing machine be quieter and not move as much at retreats. I learned so much and I’m sure that my Sewing buddies will be glad for what I learned. 😉

I think that since a cutting mat isn't "cushy", it could keep your machine in place a bit more than just placing it on the table, but it probably won't do much to tone down the noise. Thanks for watching!

I’m surprised since you already know about Martelli products because you have a Martelli Matt that you didn’t include this one in your review I’m going to post the link to their video everyone can watch all of it or just fast-forward to about 3 minutes and 40 seconds when he shows you a much better test regarding vibration . kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtmHidagvbfWoJ8.htmlsi=NP73CZkC9O_6LYge Also, when you were using the silicone mat, you said it was a much better reduction in decimal ratings. It only went down one decibel from the last test. 1-2 decibel reduction really isn’t that much.

When I made this video I wasn't aware of the sewing machine mat to curb vibrations by Martelli. I have had my Martelli mat for almost 7 years and my workstation for over 2 years - and yes, I love their products. Thanks for watching!

@@joyfulandmerryquilting I waited until they had a sale so I could order my Martelli mat. Far superior I hardly have to use any extra rulers they don’t really market their products very well. The only reason I found out about them is because I went to some quilt expo a couple of years ago. Also, I am getting used to their rotary cutters. So much better for your wrist.

I encourage you to watch your own video again because when you used that Madam Sew Mat that was the absolute worst of all of them for you to say it came in second is so far from the truth. Your machine vibrated so much using that mat there’s no way in the world I would purchase that product with all of that vibration. You probably couldn’t see all of that vibration in real life but the video clearly shows how bad it was.
@joyfulandmerryquilting
@joyfulandmerryquilting 6 ай бұрын
Every mat produced some vibration but the main purpose of the video was to test movement AND vibration and those were my results. When coupled together, those were my results. You're welcome to disagree with my results.
@dcwatashi
@dcwatashi 6 ай бұрын
@@joyfulandmerryquilting I know you’re busy, but if you go and watch the video again, you’ll see that the Madame Sew Mat had so much vibration it was unbelievable. I’m in the process of trying to find an inexpensive sturdier table than the folding one because I want to use my over locker near my living room window so the mat is very helpful, The one I bought from Martelli but you still need to have some kind of sturdy table. Specially, for an over locker because they typically have so much vibration anyway.
