I cant believe in the late 90s I could do this on handrails. Now Im terrified of my grind box.

Watched this during the winter and just laced my first three ever this spring. That counter-spin to start is EVERYTHING!

Great vid. Great to know I'm not that weird because I switch KG easier (right foot) since it's my natural spin (to the left). It's way harder for me to KG with my natural (left) foot because that spin is unnatural (to the right). Same with AOTP, AO Fish...I'll test that "swing the opposite way first" theory though..sounds promising. Thank you!

Nice that you time your tutorials with the Blading community challenges. Perfect! I threw myself on my box and p-rail for last few days trying to learn the kind grind and had exactly this problem (farside Mizou). Have to try this counter rotation technique today or tomorrow. Somebody also told me to approach in a more perpendicular way and not too parallel (less rotation) and of course: staying lower. PS: tried it out today. Your counter rotation technique helped a lot. Coming more perpendicularly didn't and what also helped me was starting further away from the obstacle. Risky, but better results so far.

Why didn't I think to try this trick in switch 😂 I learnt it the same as you. I naturally turn left, but I turned right for this, I naturally frontside with right leading, but I lead with my left for this. Definitely trying the other side now. Brilliant insight bro!

I call that spring twisting before the jump. Twisting your core a bit and untwisting in the jump.

Josh Acosta fighting and boxing is also where I picked it up. Can put a lot of force into an uppercut twisting like that.

I really want to learn this one now I'm sure I gonna nail it next time I was trying it on the wrong side , same side I was doing my alleyoop Top soul spinning to my left but trying to get my left foot in the back but next time I will approach it like a royal spinning to my Right and to had something to your left just before the jump To not go Farside, thats the moment you want to bring your left foot in the Front!! I realize by doing this for Royale, acid , soul having you left foot position in the front before Jumping , makes the pop way more simple you pop and lock you don't have to think about moving your feet during the jump✌️

I am so happy you're teaching tricks in sync with the BtB Challenge! I think that's so awesome! Bringing the blade community all together. I have a couple of questions about the kind grind. It's one of those tricks I am not very comfortable with. Is there a difference in how you approach the ledge for Kind Grind vs other AO tricks? You mentioned you look down at your feet a lot when you're trying to lock. Is that your recommendation for making sure you lock the trick or just a preference?
