There is no particular set up. Just cast on (we do a long tail cast on). On the first row: k1 and sl1 with yarn over. Turn work and from there on, do as on this video.

So did I, this past month, I've been trying all the new ways to hold the yarn. This is my favorite. I'm working on my first pair of socks, two at a time cuff down. when I tried two at a time toe up there were too many holes and I couldn't stand looking at them, so I started another going cuff down. I'll try it again after a while.

I’m with ya! I am (or I should say, I WAS) a continental knitter. I learned Norwegian with the Christmas balls. Then perfected my Norwegian Cha-Cha-Cha by making a Christmas stocking with my left over Christmas ball yarn. I can’t tell ya how many times I had to “pull the cord” in case of emergency!

I’ve always knitted the continental way. I thought that was fast. But just a couple months ago I learned how to knit and pearl the Norwegian way from Arnie’s video -which is much faster. I’ve always avoided brioche knitting because I heard that it was very hard to do. Now I’ve been inspired to give it a try. I have also taught my coworker to knit. She’s only been knitting a few months and she already knits the Norwegian way and knits almost as fast as I do now. Thank you so much for your tutorials.

You two encourage me to try so many new things. When you said brioche was easy if you knit the Norwegian way, that was all I needed to hear. I found a two color tutorial and it is quite easy the Norwegian way. The yarn over , two together is a nice, fluid movement. Like Carlos I’m not afraid anymore and if I see a pattern with some brioche I won’t overlook it. Once again, thank you!

After watching your video, I practiced a little bit before I went to bed. Then all night long I kept dreaming about the brioche stitch. So I got up early and started a scarf. The yarn I am using is from an old sweater that I got at Goodwill, or a charity shop. It was wearing out, so I took it apart and am using the yarn to make the scarf. So easy!

You guys inspire me! I've been a self taught knitter for 51 years but never ventured beyond Irish Knit sweaters and size 7 needles.. Since finding you during lockdown I have become addicted to socks, cuff down and toe up, I have made a top down sweater with a lace panel from a provisional cast-on, a raglan top down sweater, cowls, mittens and GLOVES!!! lol! I have done colorwork and steeking with a Dale of Norway pattern in the past but was always disappointed because of my tension, and Brioche is confusing to me. My goals for 2021 are to learn Brioche and practice, practice, practice my colorwork. I LOVED Arne's knitting by the fireplace videos and I knit along with him in a companionable silence. LOL! and when Freya barks and you guys say, MOOSE MOOSE! my wee dog barks and I say, FREYA FREYA! lol! All this is to say I have loved spending time with you guys and WHY CAN"T WE BE NEIGHBORS?? lol!!

I wholeheartedly agree! My grandmother knit Norwegian style, but unfortunately, I only took up knitting a couple years after she passed so I had to find you guys to learn the technique. It really does make brioche knitting go quickly and the beautiful designs that can be made are stunning. I learned brioche through Nancy Marchant’s Craftsy class. It’s worth the time and money. Thanks for the great insights.

Wow, I avoided using only one color, because I got confused with which yarn I was using. This is WONDERFUL! Thank you both I look forward to the two-color brioche knitting

I have never heard of brioche before. Does it make the fabric stretchy? Like for the collar? I am so glad you are feeling better and back from hospital now. You guys have brought me up when I am down... My son passed away 1 month ago today. He was 20 years old. Keep being yourselves. Now is the gift. Right now. It is a special one time only offer. No returns. Keep enjoying the gift. The present. Thank you ♡

I finally tried this and it is awesome! I too was shocked by how easy and fun it really is when done the Norwegian way. I love also that it's impossible to get lost- even if you get interrupted in the middle of knitting and have to go back to it- because the 2 alternating stitches look so different on the needle, you can easily tell them apart and know what stitch you should do next! You two always teach us the best, easiest ways to knit. I love you for it!! 💝
