I’m knitting a scarf in seed stitch. The instructions say to slip the 1st and last stitches on each row. It doesn’t sound right to me. Won’t I always be pulling the same stitch up on both sides of the scarf?

If I cast on odd number of stitches, then surely I will always finish with a plain stitch. Don't i start the next row with a purl stitch? When I use garter stitch, I always slip the first stitch to give a really neat edge, can I do this in moss stitch.
@jillbonniface4864
@jillbonniface4864 5 жыл бұрын
This is SEED stitch. MOSS stitch is almost the same, but has two rows of K1, P1. Then rows 3 and 4 are P1, K1. This is in neither US nor UK. It's in New Zealand. :-)

Hello! Do you think it looks better with 15mm needles? Or 12mm needles? In the website, you suggest to use 15mm but in the video 12mm
@michellegrover1067
@michellegrover1067 7 жыл бұрын
Lux Or 12mm are better for Crazy Sexy Wool. "How would you know your a American which means you have a different way of measuring needles" well your right, but 12mm needles are a size 17 in the US and Crazy Sexy Wool is super bulky. Which means if you want to get same kind of result she has, you have buy 12mm and buy a size super bulky yarn or some Crazy Sexy Wool.

hey there, i just got the instructions for the lil snood dogg but i'm still confused about the number of stitches + rows..it says to "cast on 21 stitches" and to continue on for a further 54 rows- so does that mean 21 stitches for the first row (?) im not sure because in the illustration, the measurement equates to 36 rows, and 19 stitches :S
@mariarogel2006
@mariarogel2006 5 жыл бұрын
CO 21 stitches. Do the moss stitch. Turn and do the moss stitch again. Repeat pattern until you have 54 rows. 21 stitches is the width of the snood. 54 rows is the length of the snood before joining

If you cast on an uneven number of stitches, every row should begin with a knit stitch. If you cast on an even number of stitches, every other row will begin with a purl.
@shanedeleon5376
@shanedeleon5376 6 жыл бұрын
So basically, if your last row ended in a knit, start the next row with a knit. If your last row ended with a purl, start with a purl.

Moss stitch is made with seed stitch. But instead of alternating every row you alternate every other row.

I cast my first row on my first needle. I'm trying to start onto the 2nd needle. The pattern says knit the first 2 stitches so I knit, knit and then purl? Also when I am purling my purl stitches are so tight I can barely get them around the needle. How do I make the purl stitch more loose so it is being strangled? This is my very first time knitting.
@YANNTINGG
@YANNTINGG 7 жыл бұрын
probably means your cast on stitches are too tight? I have the opposite problem - my moss stitch is extremely loose and full of holes, looks nothing like the video ): but she didn't look like she was exerting much strength

I am…so confused! :D I am doing an uneven number. This video says to just always start each row with a knit stitch. But comments here and other videos talk about “alternating” Ironically when I first tried rib stitch I kept accidentally doing moss! So, am I doing K1, P1all the way along the row and then doing exactly the same for every subsequent row? That just gives me rib stitch? Help 😔

Hello What is the difference between moss stitch and 1x1 rib please. I can’t tell the difference? Thanks
@woolandthegang
@woolandthegang Жыл бұрын
Both of these stitches repeat 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch, but it is how the stitches are repeated that is different! Rib stitch gives you columns of Vs and columns of bumps. It can be helpful to think of it as alternating 1 stitch of stocking stitch and 1 stitch of reverse stocking stitch. With 1x1 rib, on the second row you knit the stitches that you purled on the first row and purl the stitches that you knitted on the first row. In moss stitch, on the second row you knit the stitches you knitted on the first row and purl the stitches you purled on the first row. This creates a double sided texture that is more similar to garter stitch than rib. Hope that helps!

If I cast on an odd number of stitches, is it possible to start every row with a purl rather than a knit stitch?
@woolandthegang
@woolandthegang 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! You can knit basic moss stitch on an odd or even number of stitches. Cast on an odd number of stitches, work K1, P1 to the end of the row, finishing with a knit stitch. Start the next row with a knit stitch, and so on. If starting with an odd you need to knit first
