This knitting tutorial will first show you how to knit & purl tbl (through the back loop) in order to twist the stitches. I'll then compare how twisted garter stitch compares to regular (untwisted) garter stitch, and how twisted stockinette stitch compares to regular stockinette stitch. And I'll end by only twisting the stitches on the right side of the knitting.
For reference, garter stitch is where you knit each stitch (k) on every row, and twisted garter stitch is where you knit each stitch through the back loop (k tbl) on every row.
And stockinette stitch is where you alternate between a knit row and a purl row (row 1: k, row 2: p), and twisted stockinette stitch is the same but you twist every stitch (row 1: k tbl, row 2: p tbl).
