Step by step tutorial on how to knit the cable stitch for beginners
►►► VIEW THE FULL BLOG POST HERE: nimble-needles.com/stitches/h...
You want to create beautiful Aran sweaters or cable hats? Then you only need to know how to knit the cable stitch. There is the left cross and the right cross and I'm going to show you how in this video.
All you need is a cable needle, and you need to know how to purl and how to knit.
For the left cross, slip the first two stitches on your cable needle and hold the needle in front. Then knit the next two stitches. Pick up the cable needle again and knit the two slipped stitches. Put the cable needle to the side, and continue knitting.
For the right cross, you do exactly the same thing, but keep the cable needle in the back.
In the return row you knit all stitches the way they appear. Typically you only cross on the right side and keep a couple of rows in between each crossing.
You can also knit the cable stitch without a cable needle. Here is how: nimble-needles.com/tutorials/...

Hi Norman! I am picking knitting back up and I’m still new at it, but I would not survive without your tutorials! I pull them up all the time and they have helped me so much. I’m now getting from beginner to more complex (intermediate) knitting! Thank you!

It's amazing how some excellent teachers miss how to explain things. I'd been frustrated on how to make cables. I am now frustrated at how easy they are. I am not kidding when I say it was explained in an overcomplicated fashion. Thanks for the nice video. It really helped a lot. My projects can now get more varied texturally and visually. 👍

Amazing! Thanks to your wonderful videos I created my very first cable knitting project, a cute moss stitch and 3x3 cable. Your videos are pure gold! I am just a beginner, but that project gave me so much satisfaction

I’m finally tackling cables, I’ve been knitting since I was 3… I’m 49 now, and until now I kept away from charted patterns and ‘Fancier’ knits. I finally decided to get over my fear of messing up and do some of the more interesting things in knitting.

When doing reversible cables do you still just knit all the way along the wrong side?
@NimbleNeedles
@NimbleNeedles 2 жыл бұрын
no...in that case you have to follow the 1x1 rib stitch pattern for the cables.

@@NimbleNeedles right thanks, I have watched a few different videos, and no one has explained how to do the reverse side of the reversible cable stitch, and unfortunately, I couldn't find a video on it from you. but thanks for the info that is very helpful.

Sorry if I sound dumb, but just lemme get this straight, cause my dream is to actually cable knit. By knitting across you mean following the stiches? @@NimbleNeedles

Why is there not instructions from the beginning. You already have stitches on
@NimbleNeedles
@NimbleNeedles 2 жыл бұрын
because the video shows the cable stitch...which does not rely on any setups rows. you can literally use this technique for any knitting stitch patterns. In this case, it's a 2x2 ribbing. If you need to catch up, here's a very short and easy video for you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7-KjNmTttS1qGw.html

@@NimbleNeedles ahh thank you as a beginner I didn’t realise that. I couldn’t understand why all the videos were showing stitches already on. I will give it a go now & thanks for the link it was very helpful. Thanks again Take Care
