Great lesson Dr Mike. Finding synth tones that work with heavy guitars is more difficult than it sounds.

@@DrMikeMetal I did a Midi conversion for one of the The Beast Of Nod songs last year via the eurorack and think what they did with what I sent over was cleaver. I havn't fully thought of using it in this type of concept, so I might use it on my rhythm tracks for one of the songs I'm currently working on. Also, both tracks (background and example tracks) used in the video sounded dope :)

And this is why I bought Positive Grid's OMNYSS (though I didn't know it was a normal thing. But it makes sense now why they'd make amps that combine the two).

Thank you for sharing! Very interesting tool, I haven't seen it before. Is it a guitar to synth sort of thing or just a collection of massive shimmer-type reverbs?
@Emily_M81
@Emily_M81 11 ай бұрын
@@DrMikeMetal The Etheria amp does do a shimmer thing (meant for cleans), Aggralith is a deep-sounding synth, and I forget what Viscerus does. They have simple controls. A blend, a tone, and depth, so you could do a lot more mixing in a synth yourself. I really like Aggralith's though.

Thank you for the question! I can't remember exactly, from memory I either used Axe-FX II or just Clairvoyant plugin. It's a low-tuned guitar that is tightened significantly.

Dang. I didn’t even know this was a technique honestly. It’s cool but personally I’m not too big of a fan of the digital guitar sounding tone. I might use this technique a bit differently to give my guitars more umph! But not so tight. I like a more natural sound and dislike the overly digitized sound modern metal has.

Could you do the same with the Bass guitar on a Mono channel down the middle, or would that just be overkill?
@DrMikeMetal

You certainly can, depending on the riff! I'd still do stereo left and right synths just to make the part wider and bigger but try experimenting, certainly a great idea!

Great technique to fill out the sound and as an old fart, this is the first record where I realised that the guitars may be being underpinned by a synth (or two). kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jN2Fh5R9uc6bgnk.html
