There are many components to how to understand Korean online . One resource I found which successfully combines these is the Napars language learn (check it out on google) definately the most helpful resource i've found. Check out the incredible info .

some Koreans dislike associating themselves with Korea when they're overseas because they either want to assimilate or experience something different. Maybe that could be why?

I know your joking but just go out suck up the anxiety if you have any and just act yourself, I did that and I have a small community of friends (like 9ish people) and we all hangout all the time. It's really up to you to suck it up and go out and find someone if they don't like you then fuck them.

Guys use Duolingo(when korean is added to it) or Memrise (its really good) and for grammer use "Talk to me in korean" . Its free and the lessons are in mp3 format or on soundcloud. Memrise has some paid features but they are not so important. The thing about memrise is that people sort of create memes so it helps in memorizing a phrase and the best way to memorise a phrase is to make your own meme. You will find a lot of lame memes/puns that I created. :P

🙋🏻. From the 🇺🇸. I love and adore you guys and your videos 🙃. I am enjoying a different view on life in Korea. I have been so into Kdramas, Kpop, variety of entertainment and culture. I now watch very little American entertainment, as too many times it's too racy . I picked up a lot of words and have the basics down but at my age " 73 " , my brain is not as sharp 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks so much for the videos 👏 🆒❣️

i would like to add that one of the best way to learn is to enroll yourself in the language institute that most universities in korea have and stick with the course and all ur life for the semester would just be korean, korean and more korean.... (only if u have time to waste and the money as well) i did the intensive kind where mon-fri, 9-1 everyday for a year~ breeze thru from level 0 all the way thru level 6 because 선생님 is always there to teach~

I'm in Korea now and will be till august 27th 2019 for study abroad. I'm struggling with my Korean because I keep talking to other foreigners... time to step up my game. 화이팅!

Oooo 노래방 is a good reading goal! Hinative is great and LingoDeer is pretty good as well if you're an absolute beginner and less sociable.

You can be put at level 5 in kiip if you have topik 4 or higher. So I guess you took the placement test to start the kiip course. Quite impressive

I learned by looking at the translations and romanizations to the songs so that I could sing along and know what they were going on about; by watching a lot of kdramas and paying attention to the context familiar words would come up in; the alphabet was easy enough to learn but yeah, to read it fast enough you need to actually (and actively) practice so I'm working on that; romanization is ok when you first start out but native koreans (atleast the ones I know) laugh at that stuff :D. Now I go back and listen to those old-school kpop songs I first started out with and understand them instantly (and better, because translations aren't always accurate); I watch my kdramas without subs when I'm impatient and understand, like Haeppy, almost everything BUT the technical stuff and when I DO have subs I notice how much gets lost in translation.
