Mixed voice is a term you have likely ran into if you study vocal technique from youtube. There isn´t exactly agreed upon meaning for it, but usually vocal coaches seem to use the term to refer to something that helps you get those high notes without flipping to falsetto. On this video I share some thoughts on it and some exersices that can help you get started.
Some of the exercises are pretty close to typical Speech Level Singing (SLS) exercises. I happen to think that SLS gives pretty nice basis for learning mixed voice and deserves much credit for it. I did not feel the need to go through them in much detail, since everyone can find them very easily on youtube. Instead, I focus more on couple of other exercises that I have not seen being used but are highly efficient for learning mixed voice.

One of the most informative and best video's online, showing you what you should feel for mixed voice. So many people say, Do this Exercise, do that, and after a couple of months, you don't understand why results are slow or not at all, and this video shows you exactly why you are not getting results, because you need to do what's in this video. Well done, Great content.

Great, Thanks. Hope you find help from it. I´m going to make the second part at some point. The excercises on this first video should guide you to the correct path. The next step would be to transfrer what you learn from these exercises to vowels, vocal phrases and finally into real singing. That is something that will require some patience but will happen little by little with repetition. Have fun practicing :)

Hi there. Thanks for asking and suggesting a video topic. Unfortunately I don´t have such video yet. It´s on my list though 😊I don´t know if this helps, but the key is to be able to lift the "chest" without needing to add tons of effort from the throat. You first need to be able to produce quite metallic and loud note from comfortable pitch with ease. You will need to use effort from below the throat i.e. power from the lungs. Belting actually requires notably more lung pressure the higher you go. That is an important part of the pitch adjusting mechanism in Belting, since we cannot simply increase the pitch by stretching the vocal folds as in other types of voice qualities. I think it´s also good idea to play around with twang, since often smaller space above vocal folds is needed (epilaryngeal narrowing). Don´t need to go crazy with that one though. Then its good idea to think about having more space higher in the vocal tract i.e mouth. So try maintaining also wider mouth opening. Vowels that naturally include wider mouth opening are the best like the vowels in "yeah" and "wow" for instance. Many times it is said that belting uses kind of megaphone vocal tract shape. That refers to the narrower space lower in the vocal tract and widening of mouth. Anyway, seems that I got a bit carried away with the answer 😀 I´ll try to clarify these ideas in future videos. Happy practicing ✌️
