If you are a resident of a non-EASA Member State and plan to visit and operate a drone in an EASA Member State, you need to register as a drone operator with the National Aviation Authority of the first EASA state you intend to operate
www.easa.europ...
Once you are registered in your host EASA Member State, this will be valid across the rest of EASA Member States. You don’t need to register in another EASA Member State again.
You also need to train and pass the drone pilot’s certificate online exam and get the European certificate in any EASA Member State. Some National Aviation Authorities offer the training and exam in English. And of course, you need to comply with the European Drone regulations.
To prepare for your trip, please take time to review all information on drones published on EASA Pro and check the list of EASA Member States’ ‘Drones - National Aviation Authorities’.

Absolutely correct Henrik. I did the EASA online drone test through the Duchy of Luxembourg (free course) to gain an EU Flyer and operator ID, then converted to to a Polish one by registering with the Polish CAA to get a Polish Flyer and operator ID. All together maybe an hour online, and 2 or 3 emails and all was done. It's not difficult as long as you follow the right steps. Google is your friend as they say.

Why did you convert the Luxembourg operator ID to a Polish one? As both are EASA member, one operator should suffice, shouldn't it?

@@FrankMaas Yes, you are correct, it would have been enough, I was just being pedantic by covering every possibility.

Neil, I did the course and exam on the LUX site which gained me the Flyer ID certificate. But blowed if I can find the right form on their website to get an operator ID, You can either apply as a 'natural person' which turns out the be Lux citizens only, or as a 'legal person' where the form expects you to be filling in details of a firm that you work for. I don't work for anyone. Really stuck. Can you help please?

Hi, I have done the exam for Luxembourg but I am travelling to Greece. I have completed the exam and received a certificate from the EASA but it says Lux on it. If I take this to Greece as a form of ID would it be acceptable or do I need to do something else? I am really confused. Can’t wait for your reply, many thanks

I just did it the other way round: As a citizen of an EASA country I intend to spend time in UK and take with my drone. A big decision is it, if I‘ll carry my sub250 or better going big with my larger drone. I already made a flyer ID and as well an operator ID. The A1 & A3 is very similar to the EASA A1/A3. In my case I tried without a single training unit and passed. The only thing I realised is different are the distances to people/Houses. I‘m not planning to do the A2 based in UK but I‘ll go with my larger drone, mainly because of a better wind performance. I‘m well aware to be in need of keeping distance from people/buildings. Here’s a hint: If you are a UK citizens I would recommend to do your registration in Ireland. If you intend to fly in another EASA country you are still fine.

Quick question. I am currently in Croatia, and I'm trying to fly my mini 4 pro. Everytime I take off I receive a large red circle on my rc screen and I cannot move my drone left or right. Very unstable. Is this due to restrictions?

Thanks for this, I really enjoy your channel. I'm starting off in Italy from the US and taking my Mini 3 Pro. It's a 2023 model so does this mean it's classed as a legasy drone and no longer has the advantages of being sub 250 grams? If so what do I do?

A few things here need more research Henrik. It's not necessarily the aviation authority in a country which issues the Operator ID. In my country of Sweden for example, it is the Ministry for Transportation (Transportstyrelsen) who oversee this and issue the Operator ID. Also, it is not free of charge here - this too varies from country to country. Where I live there is an annual registry fee.

I have come to Germany from India for a month and carrying my Dji Mini 4pro (without a class identification sticker on it). I tried to register with German civil aviation, however the registration service is only available in German language. Also, the companies here sell drone insurance to EU domicile only. Please help.

I would like to bring my drone (DJI Air3) to fly in EU countries. I did already the EASA's pilot exam but I got stuck when tying to register for my drone as I need to provide liability insurance information in the registration form. My problem is that I can't find any company in my country (Thailand) that provides such liability insurance outside of the country, so I try contact insurance companies in the EU countries, all of them informed that they have the policy available for EU residents only. I don't know what to do. Could you please give me some advice?

What about flying commercially? I know if I am making a movie, or something to that scale, I am sure permits out the wazoo are necessary. But what about the more fuzzy situations? Like, for example, making a video destined for KZfaq and your channel is monetized, or you happen to have good friend who wants you to inspect their roof or film their property for real estate purposes and offers you a few bucks to do so. I guess the right question is if their is line where something is considered commercial and where it is not.
