I recall back in the day when this plugin first came out, that the pivot level was -16db. It doesn't say that anywhere in the help or manual but unless something changed, you'll want your input to be dancing around -16db and then apply the settings you mentioned. Great explanation. Best one yet. I suggest for everyone to read the manual.

Yeah, it beats all the other ones in my opinion. Hard to list them all now there's so many these days: -waves vocal rider -quiet art wave rider -hornet auto-gain -accusonus era voice leveler -tbaudio pro gain rider -wa outlaw -izotope nectar 3 -izotop rx leveler -sound radix powair -dotec deetrim To be faaaaaiiiir, I haven't actually tried dotec's, haha.

Nothing else comes close for me. If I had to choose another option, I'd probably say Waves or the Hornet one.

How would you compare this to W.A. Production Outlaw?

I think I AB'd it again production outlaw awhile ago. I can tell you I liked it more than any other vocal leveller I tried, including Waves, Hornet, Sound Radix, Izotope, ERA, etc.

Isn't this just another sort of compressor plug-in, just with a different name?

It’s not a compressor, it’s a leveller. Compressors just don’t level vocals they also add different tones to your vocals. So this is more like a leveller which is important to use in order to use just a settle amount of compression on your vocals because there isn’t that much dynamic range. Really useful 👍🏾
