To take a boat off a trailer. Put two old tyres on the ground near the stern. Pull the boat back on the trailer until the stern starts to drop. (hold the bow on the winch cable). Position the tyres so the stern will land on them. Slowly pull the trailer forward, or drive forward with a car. When the bow starts to drop off the trailer, put an old tyre under the keel at the bow. Pull the trailer out and the boat is unloaded. To put the boat back on the trailer, wheel it up to the bow and winch it on, guiding the trailer under it as it lifts up. NO PROBLEM! I have done this many times!

Great method - thanks for posting. One safety note - those concrete blocks can fail instantly and without warning. Probably not likely on a boat that size but I still never use them the for any kind of blocking. Go boat stands or wood all the way.

Most definitely. On a boat this size, just to remove the trailer it’s fine. Anything bigger, I’d double up the concrete blocks and stack them in opposite directions. Boat stands are really the best for the job. And to go even further which I should’ve mentioned, would be to chain the stands together so they don’t slide out. Thanks for the comment! 🤙

if you are going to use concrete blocks, at least turn them in the correct direction!! you are set up for failure in this scenario brother.

Well first mistake is your using the cinder blocks wrong. They should be turned up so that the holes are up and down. That is the strongest way for a block. Like laying a wall for a foundation.

So very true. Turning them sideways like that can break very easily. Especially if there is a small rock in the ground.

Some junkyard tires will work just fine... We used them at the boat dealership in the 50s and 60s😊😊😊

@@perfectfitboating I started Good Seamaritan Rescue in Stratford Connecticut at the mouth of the Housatonic River where it meets Long Island sound in 1958 with a 13 ft Boston Whaler... At almost 80 years old I'm retired for the 4th or 5th time, I can't really remember 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for taking the time to respond...👍

Seems a bit labor intensive to this old man. My method involved tying the back of the boat to an "immovable object" (ie: tree) and pulling the trailer out with my vehicle, placing the cribbing as necessary. Worked for me many times with a boat bigger than the one in this demo. Getting the boat back on was the reverse with the use of the winch. But that's just me.

dont ever use concrete blocks for shoring up anything due to they are prone to having cracks in them .if u use them for light cribing at least turn them the way u would put them in a wall.

They’ve been turned the right way. It’s held up just fine. Boat doesn’t weigh anything.

If we can get a trailer company to work with us, then that would be the plan. We might just fix this one up for now. It’s an aluminum trailer with a torsion axle so it might be worth putting some money into it. I mean we drove it over 150 miles home at 70+ mph and it pulled perfectly. 🤣

The concrete blocks are in their weakest position. With this small boat that probably doesn't matter. It matters a lot with larger boats.

Yes, the boat is very light. Under 1k pounds. The purpose of the blocks in the video is just to show you can use them (although wood cribbing is better) but boat stands all around is what is being used. With larger boats I’d recommend only boat stands. 🤙
